When you buy just the hunting license? I know I will have to buy the state migratory bird stamp. That stamp includes both dove and duck right? I haven't went fishing in years and probably won't fish so I figure - why buy the super combo??!! If I can save money and still do all the hunting I normally do then good for me.

I didn't buy the super combo for the same reason you wouldn't since I haven't fished a public lake in 2 or 3 years.

Base License - $23
State Migratory Bird Stamp - Dove, Ducks, Geese, Teel, Sandhills, Snipe, Woodcock, Coot, Rail, Gallinule - $7
State Upland Stamp - Turkey, Quail, Lesser Prairie Chicken, Pheasant, Chachalaca - $7
Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamps (aka Duck Stamp) - Waterfowl only - $15
Archery Stamp - Deer or Turkey during the archery only seasons - $7

Pick your combination of what you want to hunt. I do all of the above except Archery.

Man you were only like $10 shy of the super combo What if you go to the ocean or something? Man I lost my DL and am in fear it will not get here until after the opener. I have my college ID and Social security card and copies of bills that go to my house....Think that will work?

$10 Shy? I saved $27. I ain't going to the coast of Texas this year and I saved more than that. I have a kid now so I choose to hunt over fish these days. I rather fish private waters and catch a lot right now.

I paid $37 ($23 + $7 + $7 = $37) for what I hunt and Super Combo is $64 so I saved $27. Super Combo does not include Fed. Duck Stamp. so still spend $79 with Super and Duck Stamp and I paid $52 adding the Duck Stamp.

Hey Skyshark don't forget the bigfoot stamp, it's $350.00, only way you can shoot one if you see it. Always be prepared..

Seriously, if you have a buddy going for the first time to buy a license, tell him to get some kind of fake stamp like the 'Special Eurasian Collered Dove Stamp' or the 'Resident Dove Stamp'. Then see what he says when he calls you up after going to buy it! I should have done that for someone I am taking hunting for the first time.

Those should work but don't you have a temporary TDL? Passport works too.

Hey Skyshark the supercombo includes the state stamp but not the federal stamp. The documents should cover the requirements for a license.

Dont forget the HIP cert on license.

Super Combo

I ended up getting the hunting license with Migratory stamp, Federal duck stamp and the Public permit. Less than $100 for all. Anytime I can save money - good for me!!!

My girlfriend is getting her first super-combo/federal bird stamp this year.(After watching a successful goose hunt last year she's ready...lol). I have a list of other things for her to ask for. Funny you mentioned it. Can't wait till she asks for the special Snipe bag, and the special hen Canvasback banding kit(told her it's for the first yr. hunter only). Should go well with the Jetty only Sand Trout permit. I can't wait....
