Seems to happen more often, than not. Think they will ever run duck season from December to end of February? Seems the seasons have shifted over the last 30 years.

Nope, birds start pairing bonds in late January and having the season run any longer would detrimental to the breeding population

Ducks start bonding much earlier than late January and anyone who thinks a hen will go un-bred has never visit a park in April.
Du and delta better find a way. Their biggest cash cow (Texas) gonna dry up.
Also this isn’t the 1st major front of the year. My rear end about froze to death on New Year’s Day. 4pm or so.

Ducks start bonding much earlier than late January and anyone who thinks a hen will go un-bred has never visit a park in April. They get gang raped, it's brutal. I saw one time a gang of greenheads chasing this hen, hen flies into a telephone wire, falls to the ground. You would think the greenheads would go and check make sure she is ok, but instead they pound her while she can't fight back. It was hard to watch, duck and bass.

And there’s still no ducks. Guess what, nonexistent ducks don’t care about late cold fronts….

Birds showed here the last 3 weeks of the season....but weren't stacked like they were 10+ years ago. Frustrating. We will try it again next year.

Completely agree, if you don’t have a hard cold for a few days by New Years the migration it is going to be tough. Daylight hours are increasing and ducks seem to hang on for dear life in the areas they are already in

theres 10k pintails south of markham that wasnt there 2 weeks ago! i told my wife im gonna start carrying the camera and lenses and try and catch a pintail "tornado" this week on the rice cause it will be the closest weve been all season to seeing what it was like years ago. i lease the ground for farming and then its leased to the club so cant hunt it till snow goose conservation starts, but i pulled the wier gates and leavy bags so i could plow in a few weeks so the field was dry and those crazy pintails was pouring into the rags yesterday.. so many i had to tell the gals to be dang careful and not shoot them cause they was mixed in the geese
