What is the best way to kill a palm tree? They seem to come up from no where . You tube suggested white vinegar and or roundup. Neither seem to be working very well.

I'm sure Remedy or Sendero will kill 'em, but that stuff's expensive.

Lost 1 of my 4 big palms in the big freeze last year. Gave it til July to come back to life. Tried to pull it out with the F350, but it just folded over at the base. Cutting it off with the chainsaw was an experience. It’s a stringy material that clogs up the chainsaw. Don’t think a stump grinder would work, probably get clogged up like the saw.

I thought I lost 2, but one 20ft started greening up again. The real dead one is only about 10ft and is so shaky I think I can just push it over when the time is right.

18" long spade bit about 1.5" and drill at a steep downward angle near the bottom of the trunk on 3 sides. Fill the holes with Killzall. Go back a few days later and refill the holes again. It will die in just a couple weeks, maybe faster.

With a 1/2" bit on your cordless drill, drill a hole three or four inches deep into the trunk just above ground level. Angle the hole down about forty-five degrees. Fill hole with 50/50 mix water/41% Glyphosate. It will die. Not real quick, but it will die.

What kind of palm? Saw Palmetto is next to impossible to get rid of, others, not so much.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Dear god those are the absolute nastiest things to cut with a chain saw. If they die during the warm months it’s usually because they have rotted on the inside and they will stink once you start cutting.

Try Killzall. Haven’t seen anything that stuff can’t handle. I killed a hackberry that it would take 4 people to reach all the way around the trunk using the method I described above. If it will kill one of those things it will kill anything. Killzall is some bad stuff.

Kill that SOB long before you remove it, we’ve taken out lord knows how many thousands of them down and have it to an art form.. We bore three 1/2” holes to the core and pour a “Concoction” in them no less than 30 days before removing them but prefer 90. 30 days won’t come with a guarantee it won’t be back

Have drilled 1" holes in the thing and filled with roundup, seems to have stunted the growth but not very much. Seems the killzall might be good to try next. Think it is a saw palmetto

Killzall is just Glyphosate. I Usually spray out the garden with it going into winter to kill out all the grass. I have no issues planting in spring. Only plants that are very temperamental in treated areas are melons.
