Didn't want to encroach on Double AC Ranch's new RSBH thread, but it reminded me of dad.

My dad passed back in August and I was fortunate/blessed enough to receive his old model Ruger Super Blackhawk produced in 1963. We never had a great relationship and he wasn't a great father, but this is one of my most treasured possessions. Not because it's a gun, but because it was his and because of our family history connected to it.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your father. It's hard loosing a parent, sometimes even harder when the relationship wasn't the best. Glad you got the pistol. Nice when firearms, or anything really, are passed to those who appreciate and cherish it.

I lost my Dad the day after Christmas, buried him last week. We were fortunate to be very close. It's why I haven't been on and posting any these last few weeks. I've hunted with his old Sako Finnbear for the last many years as he had quit hunting years ago. I go hunting because of a passion he passed on to me for it. I'm going to try to squeeze in one final hunt this weekend before the season ends, will be thinking/reminiscing a lot about Dad if I do.

I have another Sako Finnbear that my Uncle brought back from Germany in 1969 too (he purchased and brought both back, Dad's in .270 and his in 30-06.) - the 30-06 belongs to my oldest son now as my Uncle passed in 2013, and Dad's will pass to my youngest when i'm too old (or dead) to hunt.
