I was the same way about the physical nature of soccer, thought that they were all gentle folks that played the game. I was in Mexico on a start up and the contractors corrected me fast. It's a very physical game. Boaring as hell but physical.

The coach should of handled it. We were playing in the 6under flag football championship. This one kid was just knocking kids down for no reason. Coach told my grandson to go block the kid. Grandson and the kid went at it and I made a comment look at Cooper and #7 getting into it. A parent turned around and said that’s my kid he is really tough. I laughed and said yep he looks tough. Cooper sent the kid flying on the next play and the kid just layed on the turf. #7 quit knocking over kids after that. [video:youtube][/video]

Yeah, that's about what I expected out of 5U soccer - our league nothing like the video you posted. We must have just gotten into a really competitive league or maybe it's specific to indoor soccer. No way I'd let my daughter play in this league but wouldn't have a problem if it was like the video. First time I saw a kid get checked into the wall like a hockey game it was a little shocking.

Remember what you are there for. You ain't the coach, you ain't the referee and you ain't the other kiddo's parent. Grace under pressure comes to mind. Don't allow yourself to be the parent who does not prepare their own child appropriately for competition and then think they can make up for this from the stands.
Now, if you are the grandparent - all is okay. That's what The Coach is there for. Get in His face. Thumbs up on the Grandparent quote.

Indoor is a little more wide open, but typically has better(older) refs then rec leagues. Rec leagues are a struggle with kid refs and parent coaching. My daughter is selected now, so I've been through everything you are. I’m pretty calm until it's a straight parenting issue and the parenting issues kids parent is also the coach. Bad combo when you have 13 year old refs. Positive is it gets better every year. Especially if your kid gets to the select level and signs.

I don't think much of kid's soccer matters much anyway.
The leagues exist so that parents can go to pizza buffets afterwards and let their kids run wild...again!
Besides, once kids grow to be mid-teens, they move on to important sports anyway. That is if you still think sports is important. I don't, but I still like the NHL! Go Starzzzzzzzzzzz!

People were somewhat concerned with and mindful of Hudbone, but when they saw Wifeypoo coming at 'em, they would flee. I wouldn't even sit next to her (she made me bleed once).

Also glad I didn't have boys so I didn't have to tell them no college football, so they don't end up busted up like me, and all my friends(college and pro) I guess it’s best that you didn’t have boys. I think it’s sad that an old man would want to take away an opportunity from a young man because they think they know best and are a little sore when they move around. When my boys are old enough to decide if they want to keep playing ball, join the military, or get a job, I’m not telling them anything unless they ask. At that point they’re grown men and aught to be making their own decisions. One decision I am glad that I made at a young age for them was to not put myself through watching soccer games.

One decision I am glad that I made at a young age for them was to not put myself through watching soccer games. Kid soccer sucked, I mean it really did, but we never played it much when I was young, so no love of the game. Kid basketball was OK, it got better when they also started playing football, so their basketball play picked up in "intensity". I really enjoyed kid Baseball. Youth/HS football is still king, nothing better. Charlie

I didn’t think 40’s was old… since I have actual experience at next level, it’s an actual educated decision. I get your lack of, on both. I don’t have to live through my kids, I have had a meaningless professional contract In front of me. I’ve done well enough finically they don’t have to sacrifice their bodies to NCAA for an education. High School cool, College there isn’t a long term point in MY family. If you have to play to pay for college I get it, that was me. I’m damn sure not going to make fun of kid or parent for what sport their kid plays.

Kids would do better if they were dropped off at a game and parents came back after the game was over.

One of my High School teachers use to umpire Little League games during summers.
One woman got on him one night and would not get off of him. He called time out, walked up into the stands, stood in front of her and loudly said, you obviously know more about the game than I do. You call it ,took off his umpire garb, dropped it front of her, turned around and left the stadium.
Next game he called, you did not hear a word from the stands by any one.
