 worst part of deer hunting?

I cut up two more deer the other day, a buck and a doe. I had already quartered it, cleaned the back straps & tenders and pulled the neck meat off. Took all of three hours to debone the quarters, clean up the meat, cube it, vac seal, put it in the freezer and then clean up. I must say, the "cleanliness" of the meat does seem to deteriorate the longer you get into cutting of the silver. When we go to make sausage, I am hoping my meat is not next in line with Darwinnie's. His is always so super clean, I really don't want mine being next to his for what will be such an obvious contrast.
I am going to have to start calling a friend or getting a SIL to help. The conversation doesn't hurt and having someone to do half the work would not suck.
Now I have six done. Looking forward to the last two does on my schedule and whatever mgt bucks are left over and I which get an opportunity for. Hunters for the Hungry may benefit.

Indeed a chore. We shot 16 this year and I had the 3 kiddos (10-11-11…all girls) help me every step of the way. Wanted them to experience hunting start to finish. They love chicken fry, jerky & sausage and just ate in years past. They did a fantastic job and were great helpers.

Dang Hud, I thought you really enjoyed that part. I’m about to kill a couple doe and thought I would give you a call to come help. I definitely want more sausage……

Yup Hud...I hear ya. Hell, me and the boy shot 3 culls last Tuesday evening and had them quartered and in an ice chest in an hour but cutting them up to considerably longer. I try and get out all of the tendon and 'junk' I can even for my ground meat and sausage so I end up giving the dogs quite a feast!
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

I have never thought cutting the meat to be a hard part of hunting. To me it is simply part of the process. I do all my own butchering including grinding, making sausage, wrapping, vacuum sealing etc... When I eat some venison I know I took care of everything from firing the shot to getting it on the table. Shot 2 cow elk in New Mexico on the Jicarilla years ago and it was just the wife and me to cut them up.
Took 4 days for everything but we'll worth it.

Here is a tip I learned from youtube. It is the most user friendly way I know of to process a deer front quarter. Cut it in half, and cook it in a oval shaped crock pot. Simple, and it works. With the rear quarter, after I debone the meat (except for the shank), I save the shank, with the bone from the rest of the quarter attached, for the crockpot. Some hunters toss the shanks, they are great in the crockpot. Any stew recipe will work.

Just a suggestion- put all your junk and trimmings in
a freezer bag, and donate it to someone who will use
it to make bait for trapping predators.
You'll reap the benefit by eventually seeing more game
animals and game birds

I'll be the first to admit there have been times I had a doe in the crosshairs at last light, and decided I just didn't want to deal with it. Morning hunts I'm much more likely to pull the trigger.

Mine charges $125 to process a whitetail deer-$200 for mule deer and $25 to skin. They charge extra for anything else they do ....tenderizing, sausage, etc.
