Well fellas,
Heading back down to Coutlla for round 2.
Should be back by late Monday.
If I score another deer, I’ll make sure to get pictures this time.
Wish me luck!

Early Saturday morning trip back to Coutlla.
Left about 5:30am, did my normal stop at Bucky’s in Katy for rest room & Coffee.
Did another Becky’s in Luling for another cup of Coffee.
Did a stop at HEB for some drinking water as the there’s no water at the ranch.
Got to the ranch about 11 am & meet up with my hunting partner & did some maintenance on the old mobile home.
Then went to check the feeder batteries & top off the corn.
Went back out around 3:30 to the tripod stand next to the pond & spread some corn along the Senderos .
Just before 5pm a medium doe step out & into the feeder. I was thinking of not shooting her, but I thought more meat for the freezer.
I put a 140 Hornady interlock from the 6.5 creedmoor into the front shoulder. She took off into the mesquite thickets.
I waited for about 5 minutes & climbed out of the tripod & walked over to where she was when I shot.
Found a good blood trial & followed it about 45 yards into the thicket & found her lying in a bush.
When my hunting partner was gutting her we found that the heart was just a bunch of jelly!
Two trips to my friends ranch & two shots, two deer for the freezer.

The trip to Cotulla was great. I can't get pics to post from my phone. We took 3 bucks. My buck was a old deer that only scored 140 but was 25" inside. I have taken many deer that score much better but the width just looks awesome. There was another in 140's and exceptional deer taken that scored 196. I'm looking forward to next year should be some great deer. There were tons of good deer on the ranch.
