I have watched a few of the History channels documentaries on WW 2. It was amazing how the country came together to manufacture the needed supplies in such a short time. And how many volunteered to fight in it. I just wonder if now something like that would be possible with the different mind sets of the Country. I hope I am not here to see it. But you know eventually there will be a war. Not something like Vietnam, Korea, Iraq or Afganistan but a War. Approximately 60% of the men who fought in WWII the figure for the Vietnam war was about 66%. The Korean War numbers are harder to figure as there was a draft, but also a lot of the WWII veterans were recalled to active duty. The draft ended in 1973 and the military has been an all volunteer force since then. But even those numbers are screwed up. as some have had their enlistment extended without volunteering. Some were also have been recalled to active duty after they had left the active status. Last week I visited the man that was our service manager at our company while I worked there, at his and his wife's apartment at an assisted living complex in Kerrville. He enlisted as a kid in WWII, fought in Korea, and recovered deceased, downed pilots in Vietnam. His mind is still as sharp as a tack. About 94 I believe. He knew my age, within a year, because he remembered I was 10 when he came to work at our company. Absolutely the toughest man I've ever met in my life. You don't get to meet many of this type of man in your life.

But you know eventually there will be a war. Not something like Vietnam, Korea, Iraq or Afganistan but a War. Only God knows. There will always be war, I believe, until the Second Coming. The fact that the planet hasn't been blown to smithereens with nukes by now I find quite amazing. You and I both grew up with drills of putting our heads under our desks. Similar to the Covid silliness that's going on right now. Duck and cover. I remember too. Fear is the key to suspend the Constitution. That's why there will always be a new variant of covid to fear.

They just trying to catch up with us. Bingo. If only folks knew how far ahead our government was, technologically, compared to what civilians are even aware of

And you guys laughed when you watched Squid Games... Well and one guy got death by firing squad in N. Korea for smuggling that in to sell at a school. The teachers got sent to either work in coal mines or to have to go live out in the middle of nowhere (which, would that really be punishment?) and several of the school aged children who bought/watched it got assigned to 5 years of hard labor. That being said, I hope to keep hearing how oppressed and "unfair" life is in America

Don't inhabit the bunker but have a SIL who is CEO of a robotics firm somewhere in TX. They are expecting a near in the future paradigm shift in commercial applications provided by DOD expenditures. All created because they aren't even looking for commercial applications, they are looking for DOD uses.
Some of it is mind boggling.

I wonder what % of the technology and software came from china, how much was stolen, and how much was bought. U.S. tech leaks like a sieve.
