Ordered a bunch of FXTs always looking for the best I guess.

I loaded up some 135ftx for Illinois deer, guess in 11 months I'll have an update from freezing temps

I have been shooting Speer 150s out of my HAM'R. The rifle's accuracy is uncanny, and the terminal performance is incredible. Last hog I shot was a 130 pound sow at 110 yards. I hit just behind the ear. The bullet blew the entire other side of the skull to bits. Brain matter all over the place. Obviously the hog went straight down. I have also shot deer with excellent results, but for hogs this thing is like a lightening strike. I shoot supersonic suppressed - it's still pretty quiet. Everything I can say about this caliber is good.

Can you share which Speer 150gr you're using along with the load details? I couldn't find any 2011's so I took a chance on the 150gr 2023's. I wanted to wait till I got some CFEBLK before developing a load for them.

The #2022 BTSP are becoming available again. I scored some and like the 125gr TNTs my barrel liked a load about a grain less than max. With the 2022 a 5 shot group at 50 yds can be covered with a dime. It's my new pet load at 25gr of CFE-BLK and I'm sorry but I somehow managed to erase my MagnetoSpeed data but as I recall the velocity was around 2240.

Well I should have placed my order last week. Knew i should have ordered but got busy and didn't get it done. What I wanted was in stock and on sale. Came in Monday ready to order and the barrel was sold out and ammo back up to regular price. Guess I am in waiting mode now. I was going to get the 16" Ranger even though what I really want is the 14.7". But I know there really aren't any plans to bring the 14.7" length back until demand goes down.

Getting close to having my 300 Ham'r up and running. What AR mags work best with the .300 Ham'r?

I don't know how it happened but I guess I'm officially old.

I CANNOT STAND mag feed lips tearing up my brass now. Its not logical even though I have most of 200 rounds that I started with that are above 10 reloadings now. I know the rim nicks and case scratches doesn't matter much in the end but it really eats at me for some reason. eek

I have tossed my Accurate Mag AI and D&H 300blk mags in the bucket to turn in when one of these eskimo church whackos lets the cold get to their brain & starts their $$ buy back the death machine program.

It's Magpul or downloaded -2 lancer mags for me from now on

I've been using Lancer 300 Blackout mags and have never had any problems. Its worth it to Google a bit and you can find them cheap.

I'll stay with either the Lancer or the Wilson Combat mags. I have never had a problem with either one.

When it comes to magazines my policy is to only use ones I've ran a couple full magazines thru before depending on them...and always carry a spare. The only serious AR-15 malfunction I've had was caused by a defective follower and it caused the mother of all jams requiring me to take the gun apart to clear the jam.

Magpul is good enough for the Marines so I run the Magpul 300 blk mags and have not had a single issue with 100's of rounds of 300 HAM'R.

It was a Magpul that malfunctioned. Fortunately it happened while I was doing some load testing and they sent me a couple new followers for free.

Sure. Speer #2022 150 grain BTSP, 25.8 grains CFE BLK, CCI #41 Small Rifle Military Primers, Starline brass, 2.255" COAL. Amazingly accurate out of my 16" suppressed upper.

I have had zero issues with MagPul 300BLK 30 rounders.

I use Magpul for my .223/5.56 and Lancer for 300BO (and now 300HAMR) for one simple reason - Safety. Easy to identify the different mags/cartridges which helps to avoid risk of accidental loading wrong ammo in wrong rifle. My 2 cents...based on first hand experience of a quest blowing up a gun. Now I can visually confirm.

Solid reasoning.

I ended up with Lancers myself for the same reasoning.

I had a Youtube video of the 300blk and 300HAM'R not chambering or firing in one another but Youtube pulled it.

IMO the 300 Magpuls are very easy to identify due to the missing ribs in the pattern and a 308 pill poking out of the wider case at the top. grin Oh and the white paint pin letters on the side that say "HAM'R."

Probably running 100% id'ing those at 3am from all the other gear of 4 different guys rattling around all through the buggy for the last 6 hours.
I also hope everyone else is good at picking up on that too. If not you better have got a good crimp on that HAM'R ammo for when the nerdy brother in law pics up one of your mags and goes to chamber a round in his BLK a couple times before he does the gosh o golly and puts that setback round back in your HAM'R mag for you to load up a couple hours later.

Not everyone's circumstances are the same. A little extra precaution never hurt much of anything.

I painted my 300blk PMAGS tan with safety orange polka dots and red taped the base plate for load type & still had someone grab one to load in their 5.56. That was a light bulb moment that we are not all the same in the dark at 0300

There are dozens of ways to screw things up at the range and it all comes down to paying attention. I was at a major training school and the range master handed me a 300 BO carbine and a loaded magazine. We were suppose to run one of their "times drills" but I soon found out the magazine had several 5.56 rounds mixed in with the 300 BO.

Sage3155, Nice looking deer. I take it was taken with your HAM'R. Bullet?

Greycard, yes the deer was taken with my 300 Ham'r. 135g Hamr Bonded. It worked well entering at 30 cal and the exit wound was a bit over a half inch. The deer went about 10 yards and dropped. Range was about 50 yards.

I had a guest, who was an experienced outdoorsman, pick up a 300BO cartridge off the ground and then load it into a 5.56 magazine. Fortunately, this only blew up my rifle and no injuries.

After that lesson, I added a bunch of safety protocols, including that I preload all magazines and I use distinctly different magazines for .223/5.56 and 300BO. Magpul mags and Lancer Mags are distinctly different look and feel. I can easily differentiate by touch in the dark on a night hunt. Also, I added a rubber ID band to further assist in distinguishing Subs and Supers....

I have no problem telling the difference between a .224" bill and a .308" pill... The extra details just make it that much easier to avoid a careless mistake. "Belt & Suspenders" safety.

I just saw the news that Wilson Combat bought Lehigh Defense... I guess Bill has found a way to ensure supply of bullets for the 300HAMR!
