Just wanted to give a shout out. I pulled this call out after it has been sitting the last two seasons. I forgot how much I love this call. It's really beautiful but also once you learn how to blow it I think it's the best sounding call I've ever blown. It's not easy, requires more air control and less forgiving but man when you dial it in it's awesome. So just wanted to give Wal a shout out for making one nice call.

Really good looking call. I once had an RNT that looked very similar to it. As a kid around 15, my grandpa saved an article in the Longview paper for me. Butch Richenback had just won the world duck calling championship. I some how, got his phone number ( no cell phones, internet,) probably using 411 information on my parents dial up phone. He answered the phone himself, we spoke, he asked lots of questions. Most I didn’t know how to answer. I was 13 or 14 at the time. Finally he figured out the best call for me. 30.00 I said where do I send the check? He said “ what’s your address, invoice will be with the call”
I wore that call around my neck for several years. Retired it now. Has a special place on my shelf. Remembering those days, my grandpa and the call and fun I had. Kinda makes my eyes water a bit. Maybe I should go clean the dust off of it. Looks a little dusty up there.
Call is probably 44-45 years old

That is a dang nice compliment bud, thank you. I haven't even cleaned up my call making shop after the floods. it is exactly the same as the day after the waters receded. I will start again but I have to wait until the island house is done before I tackle the wood shop clean up. Lot of the tools I use are worthless now that the rust has taken over. So far as hard to blow, you are correct. Once you get it you got it but I will be changing that. I will do what is called a slight up slope on the tone board. That way the bottom of the reed gets hit with compressed air rather than the top. The way it hits the reed now, compressed air tried to pin it to the tone board, thus a shorter reed is used and short reeds are rigid= hard to blow. Thanks again for the compliment. There will probably be an island invite just for that. We will have to tune your dog up before the trip though. I came as close as EVER of getting bit 2 weeks ago. Oh and btw you can still find, buy and use the wood in that call. It is now illegal to import it. I have about 30 board feet of it left. When thats gone, its gone.
