This is one of the weirdest deer I’ve ever seen, he’s only about 10-12”s wide and looked more like a unicorn than a whitetail. He’s at least 7 years old and been going downhill the last 2 years. He was never wide enough to shoot under AR rules but he was a solid 145” deer as a 4 year old but only about 11-12”s wide. The deer is pushing 225 pounds on the hoof but he will die of old age. I love the AR’s but they do let some slip through the cracks like this one. I’m pretty sure this buck killed a 3 year old 10 point fighting as well, we found the buck dead in a creek and he had puncture wounds in his rib cage and a bunch of them. This buck came to mind as soon as we found him, weirdo deer do live lol ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2021/12/full-49433-329391-d2f5710e_fbd7_4f89_927f_0ad70036f361.jpeg)

I don’t have the conscious to waste a deer but it’s crossed my mind more than once. I wonder how many deer like this end up in a ditch?

That buck is very loooooooooooong and length hides body weight.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

I really like the AR concept also, that buck right there is a prime example of its only flaw. To bad they do not have a buck harvest/cull exception to the AR law that allows you to take a picture of the buck, send it to your local game warden or other Game Warden site for approval to harvest a cull like that.

Those spikes are deadly. I'm betting you've lost more than one buck to him.

Don't worry guys when I'm running things I will put a provision in the AR to allow shooting bucks you know are mature but are not wide enough.

i wonder if a local game warden would have the authority to give you a "pass"...of course it'd have to be before the deer was shot and not after preferably. I guess they probably don't do things like that. when the old lone star law show was still running i saw an episode where a guy shot a buck that he thought met AR and ended up being an inch short....he called warden and admitted it. warden appreciated his honesty and gave him a pass. something like this that's obviously an older deer with a significantly deformed antler....who knows.
