Has anyone else noticed that the Encore pistols have vanished from the marketplace? Encore rifles aren’t all that common either, for that matter. Does anyone know what’s going on?
Looks as if Henry is the choice for a newly made single Remington tossed the tooling after they ran the Handi rifles in the ground, and I don't think they make the CVA anymore (?)
I almost can't imagine a world without Contenders and Encores. Unreal.
I agree, they are handy and fun to shoot. I have several calibers and generally will grab one of them first. Every one of mine is plenty accurate but with just a little work they can be tack drivers. This is a 256 Winchester (357 mag necked down to 25 caliber) in a carbine barrel on an original Contender frame
I'm sure this bad boy wishes I didn't still have my 20 year old TC Encore 209x50 last sunday. Mine still works pretty well. Sorry about the picture. I hunt by myself and at age 72, I can't be choosy on posing for pictures.
S&W has stated they were going to discontinue the TC's and hoped to sell the brand. So far nothing has been said about any buyers. They are great weapons but have gotten a little over priced for what they are. But that could be said about a lot of firearms.
TC Classic is the most accurate 22 semi auto I have owned. The Encore was a very good bolt action. S&W bought TC when they wanted to have a boltaction and IMO TC went down with that move. I still have some TC products Contenders and Encores wish I still had the Icon and Cklassic

I agree with you on all counts Kmon. I have an Encore and Contender. Had a Venture but I sold it. Sub MOA. If it would’ve been an Icon, I would still own it. TC was known for extraordinary customer service until S&W acquired them. IMO
I hear rumors that Haus of Arms is going to be making some TC frames. Can anyone out there confirm this? I'd think that might get a bit tricky, legally.

They did offer the SSK-50 for a while, which is basically a Contender clone. Have not heard anything about an Encore replacement from them.

The Encore is a single shot, not a bolt action.

OOPS, I intended to say Icon not Encore there. Sorry

I own three Encore frames, an original with a very low serial number and two Pro Hunters. I have SSK Shilen barrels in 300 Wby, 7 Wby & 280 Remington. I have killed many animals with these barrels, the 7 Wby being my favorite. I hunted exclusively with Encores since 1991. I have been crtiticized for my Encores over the years, but I have kept the freezer full regardless.
