Was almost ready to purchase the Lee Classic 4 hole Turret to load 9mm, 38 special, 357 magnum, 5.56, 243 and 308. Now I am contemplating the Lee Pro 4000 Progressive Press mainly for the handgun ammo instead. Maybe the 5.56 too and just do the 243 and 308 on the rockchucker. Do any of you have any experience with this progressive loader? Dillon is out of the question for me, just not a fan. Seems everyone says go blue, yet I know several that say that but have had to use that guarantee way too often. I know for fact I could be content with the Classic Turret, but, I was just adding up the costs for all the calibers with all accessories and it seems the progressive aint that much more, at least very doable for me. I believe GasGuzzler has the neatest setups for the Classic I have seen. Thanks for any help.

I love my Hornady lock n load progressive press. Load pistol and rifle cartridges on it. There may be better presses but I wouldn't know. Takes some tuning and troubleshooting occasionally... t Hornady is great about replacing broken or worn parts for free.

I am not the progressive type. The LCT is the best of both worlds in my book. For Lee-centric information independent of the manufacturer, go here ---> Lee Reloading Forum

Using the RCBS for over 40 years. It works well enough for me.

The lee classic turret is good. If you want a progressive, buy Dillon and at least a 550. Lee progressives pretty much suck.

The simple Lee loader is what I use, one step at a time. I have used several brands of the progressive models, the Lee would be way down on my list of buying. My Lee is as simple as it gets, but for over 25 years it hasn't failed me.

I started on a 3 hole Lee turret. Ran it with the auto disk for several thousands of rounds of 9mm, 38, 357, 44 mag, and .223. As my shooting increased and my income increased and my time decreased I moved to a Dillon 650. Caliber conversions are costly and really I only load 5 calibers on it, having added .380 to the stable. I still do load development on the Lee but turn the turret by hand since I remove the auto index piece on occasion ( 3 seconds ). Its slower but easier also for all the other calibers and the turrets keep your dies set, just buy extra turrets. The priming is a weak point but it works. 5 seconds to pop out a turret and install another. 3 seconds on the shell holder, 5 seconds to change out the primer arm and the primer feed if changing between large and small primers. You have to change out the powder/measure or a disk or adjust the adjustable disk or use the Lee handy measure or some other powder measure and cycle it by hand but you have to do something similar on a progressive too on the changeover, not manual cycle.
I have an RCBS Rock Chucker, a Lyman Tmag and and now a 4 hole Lee turret since I like to separate the seat and crimp operations on autos. What's an extra pull of the handle for a slightly higher quality round. Each press has its uses.
You go with what you can afford, simplicity, ease of use, ease of changeover, and amount of time you have to devote to reloading.
