Super pumped about my new quail hunting buggy. Its a 1972 VW bug chassis with a 1600cc VW engine. 4-speed. Its a mesquite-rolling machine!!! Looking to add a bigger brush guard to the front and some better gun scabbards. Let me know what other improvements y’all think I need.

Foam fill the tires.

Puts some removable panels over the engine.

Cut off or lower that top bar in front of the shooter.

Neat looking rig. When I lived in Louisiana, the folks I hunted with used VW Bugs with CO-OP tires on them. They would go thru just about anything in the swamps we hunted.
Hope you enjoy it and have lots of fun.

Yes, I don't have dogs yet - but that's certainly on the list...

Nice functional buggy!

Look on the front of the engine and see if there is a screen over the air cooling intake.
If not, it might be a good idea to put one on there to keep grass and leaves out of there.

Here is a shot of my scratch built pasture buggy.

What you have there is the creme de la creme.......hope you know what it is, on the chance you don't, let me tell you. That's a Lannom buggy.....if an aoudad was a vehicle, it'd be one of these. Don't know if Lannom is even building any more. A few years back the wait list was out over 3 years and he's in his 70's for sure.

As the legend goes, he kept trying to price himself out of doing favors but the damned things just didn't quit, so every time word of mouth made it back to him in the form of a "can you build me a few?" he'd name an even more outrageous price......and people just kept paying it. They flat out work. Great find. If you got it under 25k, it was a deal.

I hunted in one that had a deflector in the front to help keep debris from flying into the rig. It would have been in the area where your front carrier is now. It appears that you have brackets for something like that already there.
A double seat up top might be handy
