When was the last time you heard a sonic boom? I remember as a kid in the 70’s I would hear them all the time and I’ve heard hundreds out off the coast but I’m up in Oklahoma and had a jet rattle the walls and about blew windows out just a few minutes ago. I went outside and nothing to be seen or heard, very weird.. It was a cracking noise and the booms sounded different followed by a humming sound and then by the time I went outside it was gone. If I wasn’t sober I’d say I dreamed it,,,

I'm in Abilene this weekend for a gun show at the expo coliseum acrid the road from the airport. On Friday was unloading and heard a LOUD jet taking off, figured it was huge. Walked out in time to see a F22 raptor taking off. Beautiful sight but wow those things are loud.

Sonic booms are illegal over the continental us. That said, they still happen sometimes.

When I had a lease near Priddy in Comanche county I used to hear them. There were always jets flying overhead chasing each other. Always fun to watch them with binoculars.

Thumper if you're up anywhere around Savannah, Ashland, Kiowa, Haywood or the like (Pittsburg County, SW of McAlester) there's the U.S. Army Ammunition facility, and they periodically detonate obsolete munitons up there...I don't know but it might be something like that maybe?

Jets used to fly the Red out of Wichita Falls and they made a few sonic booms back in the day. Spouse's family had to replace some big picture windows they cracked several years back.

Can also be a meteor. Last one I recall was multiple booms from the space shuttle breaking up as it re-entered the atmosphere.
To be determined

Interesting. Thought it was just me. I remember them back in the day all the time but seems like forever since I heard them. Forgot all about em. No idea it was illegal. The last three years on a new lease I hear what I assume and was told is a sonic boom about weekly. Really no idea, but it will flat out startle you.

I’ve heard those explosions enough times I don’t even pay any attention to those any more and thr always during the daytime but they are loud. They just have one single bang, this was a double sonic boom followed by a low pitched humming sound. Im not sure exactly what it was but I can say it was the weirdest sound and experience of my lifetime and that’s saying something. I tried to write it off as an earthquake since they sound similar but the very distinctive double boom was a dead give away, who knows but regardless it sounded like freedom to me and whoever was flying that thing has my respect and gratitude. I”ll never know what it was

The kinder gentler military doesn't want to offend the liberals. The USAF spent millions on damage claims from the sonic booms.

I hear those coming from the salt mine at Grand Saline when they detonate a new batch.
One shot is all it should take.

Can the public still go down in mines? My dad took me down when I was knee high. Monsters of mine tunnels and passage underground about 900 foot.
