67 yr old woman, forgot her .22 revolver in her purse, x-ray caught it at the airport, TSA took her in a room, turned her over to Austin cops, they ran all the checks on her, interviewed her for a while, determined she was not a threat, asked her why she had a gun, and her response was '' It's my second amendment right" lol
They gave her the gun back ( disassembled) , escorted her to the parking lot shuttle and told her to go put it back in her car. Of course she missed her flight, but she commented that all the cops were nice and polite. The police warned her that TSA can fine her between $2K -- $10K, and there is no use in hiring a lawyer, you will not beat it, just pay the fine, they have several months to decide.
This was about 2 weeks ago.

My son got it from TSA traveling 10 years ago when they found a 1911 mag loaded in his back pack. They took it and unloaded it and kept ammo and said I could come pick up empty mag....told them to keep it. He made his plane and life went on.

I had a .223 in my dopp kit and was flagged and pulled aside at airport security. Have no idea how it got in there. All I had to do was relinquish it to security and they let me through and on to my flight. TSA was surprisingly cool about it. They said it happens pretty often.

Man have things changed. 30 years ago I was flying to south Texas on a SWA flight out of Love field and a guy going dove hunting had somehow gotten his shotgun, in the case, through security and was planning to take it on the flight as carry-on luggage. Gate agent told him there wasn't room in the overhead for it and gate checked it. Life wen't on and nobody really thought anything about it.

Nowadays a 5 year old kid takes a, well placed, bite out of a pop tart and the school is locked down, the kid is charged with gun violence and suspended for the remainder of the year. confused2

I checked a keltec 380 mistakenly in my golf bag going to Palm Springs. Found it in California, where I had to disassemble it and throw half away. Would you believe a Keltec 380 is illegal in California?

I have two boxes of subsonic .22 LR that a friend accidentally took on his flight to visit me. I’m shocked he made it without being stopped. He didn’t want to chance it on the way back, though.

I took six 12 gauge #8 shot to Phoenix as carry on.
I returned to San Antonio for a day, then to Jacksonville Miss.
I found the shells mid-flight after having been through security three times, I disembarked quietly bolt
