Been in idaho since February. Every business and i mean everyone cant find anybody to hire. Coming back to texas to visit and i cant find an auto body shop that cant find anyone to hire either. So i assume i am going to find the same problem in texas. So how are people who choose not to work eating. Or putting gas in there car

folks in texas are working , IMO the worker shortage is from To many jobs , not enough people . Not from people just deciding to sit at home. Could be sucking workers from idaho to these areas

Oh its happening in texas. I retired from a major oil refinery in houston. We couldnt find anyone to hire that was willing to start at the bottom. Never had this happen in my 30 years working for thwt refinery

These are people who never been in a refinery and they wanted top pay. Let alone they didnt have the skills to do the job at top pay

the crowds that are coming here from places where the economy basically crashed because they were making good money since the cost of living in the area demanded it . They sell their home and move here and buy three homes and are looking for the same pay from where they came.

Side note, Texas is great but its not that great . They are purposely crashing the economies in places like LA and New York to push the folks to a smaller central , more controllable local, but thats a different story.

I dont beleive anyone would sell there home , quit there job and move to texas without a job already lined up

In some cases of people we know wages have increased, and some of the wives did not return to the work force after having been laid off.

Had a patient from Cali a few weeks ago. Sold their house there for big bucks and moved to Texas. No job at all and didn't seem concerned with finding one....it was strange to me, but I guess the world is kind of upside down these days.

This is true....the Great Resignation. Also, millions have retired early since COVID. Labor force has shrunk dramatically.

I've been looking for another decent dental assistant for several months....no luck at all, or they want a crazy wage. Last round we scheduled like 8 interviews and I think 1 showed up.

My daughter, her husband and two kids did. They wanted out of California badly. It took him about two months to find a great job in a whole new industry then they bought a home up near Haslet. They are both strong Constitutional Conservatives and want to raise the kids in a better environment.

A family friend in CA is about to do the same thing after Christmas when his home sells. No job lined up, just a leap of faith driven by a strong disgust for where his state has gone. He's smart, he's talented and I have no question that he will land on his feet. Again, he wants a healthier environment for his younger kids.
