Sorry fellas, couldn’t find the other one and can’t find it when I search for it (must be doing something wrong).
But here’s a couple of New Braunfels town deer my dad and I saw while driving around. One behind the old high school in someone’s front yard and one in some open field on the back side of loop 337.




It’s a shame, the second deer had a messed up back/hind quarter and could barely walk, I’m assuming he was hit by car.

And one more a girlfriend took a picture of open morning right in a neighbor hood backing up to Lake Dulap, not a down town deer but we’ll within the city Limits of New Braunfels.

Those first two look like they belong on the island of misfit toys.

My guess is at least four and could be five. Look at the neck going down and especially, the knobby knees. Cupping in the forehead also alludes to something older. This one grew up in an area devoid of chrysanthemums.

That deer has some weird stuff going on. His right leg looks like it is turned sideways and the knobby left knee. I bet he broke the right and the left is showing the strain of being taking the brunt of it while the other healed. He looks more rutted up than I ever remember a 3 year old hill country buck looking.

Rut is on!

Yesterday afternoon, this buck took up with a doe and settled in a friend's back yard in the old downtown residential area not far from the town square. He is a healthy one. With those eye guards, he could be named Goal Posts.

A couple of minutes later, he decided to take a nap. Yes, he is only resting in this photo. Not uncommon.

This fella has black staining all down his hind legs. He was trying to see if a doe was interested. Never say die.

He looks like he was born right after New Braunsfels was founded....in 1845.
