Some pics from last weeks' hunt. Mgmt buck had to be 14" & 7pts or less, or mature does without fawns. Struck out, as I didn't see anything that qualified. Did, however see about 15 deer each day & definitely enjoyed the hunt. Put out a deer decoy one day/night just out of curiousity & placed a game cam on it. Employees hosting the hunt did an outstanding job working with hunters. I did see one of the bucks killed that's on the WMA facebook page.

These two were looking at the decoy, a little over 200yds away, as I approached the open tower stand for the afternoon hunt.

Camera caught one nice buck walking by. His ears might be laid back, hard to tell.

I think this is the same buck about 100yds away.

Dang hog ran him off.

Lots of nocturnal hogs.

If you saw this buck during daylight, you might be tempted to shoot, especially in the low twilight.

Better think again. Spread is borderline, and there are definitely two small points that might reach 1". Penalty is confiscation & a fine. Rack size/shape not worth the risk, right?

A young buck & doe, plus some twins.

Evening twilight buck, appeared large after seeing the younger deer. Heavy bases, but 8pts definitely rules him out.

I'll try my luck of the draw again next year. It's great to see South Texas brush country, as it's so much different from North Texas.

It is a great place to hunt, not always a 100% success but beautiful. The kids were drawn for a youth doe hunt a few years back and saw some of the biggest bucks of their lives but 3 does total, shot a javelina but didn't see any pigs. On the buck hunt the next year, we weren't in the stand 30 minutes when a 7.5yr old buck showed up to munch on the corn pile and buck hunt done.

Can't wait to go back...
