I may be wrong, but I don’t think that was the ex? Guy must have popped him in the noggin because he dropped quick and never flinched.

When someone pulls a gun out and tells you to leave, the smart thing to do is go. He’s not smart enough to still be breathing. If he wanted a confrontation he should have taken the gun from the little guy instead of running his mouth. As my father always said, “Don’t ever be talking when you aught to be swinging.”

I’ve been that guy wanting his kid, when chit went south with the ex and her new boy toy got involved at HIS house, I left and called the lawyer, because I’m not retarded.

My sentiments as well. A bunch of morons in the video, but are we as a group saying that someone twice your size can show up to your house uninvited and throw you off your own front porch? How do we know the guy wasn’t charging him as he was off to the left of the camera?

Not trying to start an argument or anything but there’s a second video filmed by somebody in a vehicle that shows the man that got shot just standing there after the struggle for the gun. Guy with the gun just shouldered and fired with him standing there

I’m not either. I haven’t seen the second video. So, next question, guy physically removes you from your front porch, is that ok?

This is correct. I’ve seen both videos. The one from the street, the shooter separated about 8’ and levels and fires.

The whole thing is strange. The shooter acted like it was no big deal, and the woman supposedly married to the guy shot didn’t seem to concerned, either. I don’t know what part of the state this occurred in, but that’s some east Texas type stuff.

Amounts to Criminal Trespass. A misdemeanor in Texas. Not justification for the use of deadly force. This was a bad shoot.

So many people you see just disregard guns, like they don't believe they can be shot. And people using guns like magic wands, like showing it is the main purpose of having it.

Sad about the guy fed up and wanting his kid. Sad for the kid in the middle of this wreck. All the mistakes made. I spend such time in tinkering, reloading, shooting, just enjoying guns, it's important to remember how they can mess up lives if I fail in my responsibilities. Just thinking.

He will have to go a before grand jury because he caused the death of another person. His indictment or not, will be dependent on how the DA's Office presents it to them.

Horrible. A man lost his life, just wanting to see his son.

R.I.P. sir.

Praying for the children and families involved.

Especially this. "why didnt the land owner pickbup phone & call police ?

Good Lord. I'm wondering how he wasn't already arrested instead of showing up a few evenings later for a banquet.

Lubbock PD investigated and determined it to be a Justifiable Homicide. Also- shooter was married to a local judge until the week before the incident (divorce finalized). That’s why the local DA recused himself. There’s lots of layers to this onion.

Wow that is a crazy ordeal loco

My first thought right off the get go the landowner was quick to get the gun, second thought was when he shot the first round into the floor in front of the big guy. why didn't the big guy leave or take the gun away from him. 3 The shooter seemed all to eager to pull the trigger on the last shot.

Last thought was that no body got emotional after he got shot and they are still arguing while he is laying dead on the porch like its no big deal.

Feel sorry for his son that he was suppose to pick up.

It also would not surprise me because of all the publicity from this video that the DA gets forced to send this to the Grand Jury and goes to trial.

Believing it is justifiable, does not alleviate the grand jury process. Just avoids jail and bond.

I don’t see this situation from any angle that makes the shooting justifiable. Unless the father was on drugs, drunk or a court order that stated he couldn’t see his son, there’s no reason it should’ve escalated. Yes, the guy was on his property but rather than trying to de-escalate the situation he walked inside and grabbed a rifle and came back out of the house to intentionally (whether he admits it or not) escalate the situation. The guy never threw a punch, never pulled his own weapon and never tried to force his way into the home. Yeah, he made a stupid decision by not backing down when the guy put one at his feet. But, being the that the shooter was the one that brought a weapon into the situation and shot the guy from 5-7 yds away, calling it self defense doesn’t hold water in my opinion. If what was said was true, the dad was there to pick up his son at the appointed place at the appointed time. I don’t see why this should’ve gone any farther than some arguing and a phone call to the police to get things squared away. Tragic for the son.

He will soon be getting slapped but it won’t be on the back.
