This is another one of those instances where there's a tug-of-war over the weapon (some kind of pistol caliber AR). Other instance that springs to mind is the Georgia Arbery trial where he ran up and grabbed hold of the wrong end of a shotgun with the same result. Interesting to wonder if this case will go differently, in favor of the shooter, or not.
There is huge knowledge and experience on this forum that I'll never have, so I can't say much (but!):
1. First we know nothing of the history. This is a horrible, tragic thing to see and respect is due to the involved, their families.
2. This is a good "how not to do this" video for the shooter. Lots of lessons to be repeated.
3. Beware the new gun owners out there in the self-defense area with hollywood visions of how gunfights play out in real life.

From my initial look at the video, this probably doesn't bode well for the shooter.

It's tragic, but you have to be stupid to act bullet proof.

Shooter was completely in the wrong and will go to prison for a long time.

Unfortunately, I know more about this particular situation than I want to. The DA has recused himself to to there being a former district judge involved in the situation. The shooter is parading around Lubbock like nothing happened. Showed up at a banquet a few evenings after like people should be slapping him on the back.

Well, he did tell the dude twice to leave and get off his property

Guilty or innocent ---------- legal fees will bankrupt the shooter.

Looks like he was only looking for a reason. He came out of house with intent to use the gun. Not justifiable if I’m on jury.

The shooter is toast and rightfully so.

Wow. This all started because the ex-wife didn't have the kid there at 3:15 like stated in the court order. The man was just there to pick up his kid. He was frustrated at being jacked around. The shooter's life was not in danger, there was no need to get a gun, let alone shoot someone.

I bet next time someone tell him to get off their property and leave, he’ll do it. Oh wait….


I’ve been that guy wanting his kid, when chit went south with the ex and her new boy toy got involved at HIS house, I left and called the lawyer, because I’m not retarded.

My sentiments as well. A bunch of morons in the video, but are we as a group saying that someone twice your size can show up to your house uninvited and throw you off your own front porch? How do we know the guy wasn’t charging him as he was off to the left of the camera?

Not trying to start an argument or anything but there’s a second video filmed by somebody in a vehicle that shows the man that got shot just standing there after the struggle for the gun. Guy with the gun just shouldered and fired with him standing there

Behavior makes me wonder if there wasn't drugs/alcohol involved. Emotions can get very intense in domestic situations but geez.

Notice the first thing the ex wife says after the shooting, "you just shot my husband".
