I personally would pick the AC-130 over the HueyCobra, but it is still an awesome helicopter.

I do agree on the A-10...its a stomper.

KC-130 is the tanker, AC-130 is the gunship.

One is a flying gas station, the other can make a football field look like the surface of the moon in less than 60 seconds.

Both have their places in battles, it all depends on what is happening. When you are going in for an air assault you wan the Cobra or the old Huey gunships on standby. Especially if you are on the first bunch of birds to offload and the SHTF, on the other hand when you are about to get run over by the enemy and they are coming form all directions you want to see the red tracers coming in all around you. It was nice to see the Cobra's blasting the hell out of the assault landing area just minutes beg=fore you landed,

The latest version of the Cobra is AH-1Z Viper. It has an updated rotor system, avionics, and weapons system.

A few pics of the 100th Z model delivered to the fleet a couple of months ago.

And you'd be right.. Funny, I knew that too...
Considering, I come from an Air Force background.

Good buddy of mine from high school flies one of these. He is a Captain in the Marines and flew a lot of missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. This my favorite helicopter along with the A10 and F4 for planes.

Years ago in the early 90's I flew with an EMS pilot who was a former cobra pilot. He said he was in the first unit in Vietnam to receive and fly the cobra gunship. He loved that aircraft. We were at an airshow once and there was a cobra on display. He took me over to it and showed my things about it that no one else got to see. It's an amazing aircraft and Butch was an amazing pilot.

Those are pretty much like rebuilt new and upgraded. Both that and the Apache are amazing machines.

To be determined

Because I like math,

That would be a flight that lasted 6.85 years.
