Have a vx5hd mounted on a bergara hunting rifle. Using backcountry 2 piece mounts. The clearance has me a little worried... Dont want to go higher rings and would probably take a dremel and fix these if there's potential for issue. Any reason for concern? A dime will not fit in the gap.

You have plenty of clearance. Why would you need more?

Just getting confirmation from someone that knows more about the situation than myself. Mixed opinions amongst the local hometown crowd, but figured more knowledgeable folk frequent this forum.

Looks good. If you are worried take scope off and file the edge of base and cold blue it. But it doesn't really need it.

I used to worry about that clearance too. You're fine.

You’re good, I have one that you literally can only slide a piece of paper between it and the gun. I have been shooting it for many years with no problems.

I have a rifle with less gap, I have even removed my scope to see if it ever made contact and it has never touched.
I believe if you have .025” you’ll be fine.

That looks like a 1/16". If your scope bends that much, you got real problems.

You're good.

Agree with all the above.
I see no problems here.

Go get 'em!

As long as there is an ait gap you are good, plenty of gap there. With that if the scope ever touches you have loose rings or bent scope.
