It's easy, if you are confidentin the topic you are speaking of. Pretend you are talking to only one person.

And as far as being judged , you just have to get the mindset "I don't give a chit what they think".

This is great advice. I’ve had to do it more and more, and having a good understanding of what you’re talking about will help with the confidence part. It definitely gets easier with experience if you’re willing to embrace the uncomfortable part. I always tell myself to enjoy those butterfly feelings because that is a special emotion that comes with being alive!

Nobody is listening anyway. I give a meeting every weekday when I am working to a group of engineers and planners. I talk for about 10 minutes then go around the room and answer questions for 20 minutes that have ready been adressed.

I can handle spiders, snakes, bats, wasps and bees. All the normal scary stuff. I don't like spiders, wasps, bees, and venomous snakes, but I'm not scared of them. However, you put me in the storage shed at the ranch with a skunk and stand in the doorway unaware of what is going on, and you'd better have good insurance, because I'm gonna hurt you trying to get out of that damn shed! I am scared [censored] of skunks. I had a skunk one time walking directly at me in the pasture. First shot missed him and he panicked. Started running right at me. Now I'm panicked. Emptied a full 7+1 and half of another 7 round magazine before I finally hit my mark.

One of the greatest weapons is humor. It can be used for you, or against you.

If you can make the group laugh, you'll be more comfortable. If your humor does not make them laugh, you will have to fight off being more uncomfortable than you started.

Rattle snakes.......
I got within 4 feet of this snake last year before he rattled and came out of some very thick grass. Luckily for me he went the other way.

I can't say anything particular scares me, but definitely things I very much do not like - spider web on way to blind will have me itching for hours. Skunks and snakes in the dark keep me on my toes. Will say though, hindsight of my teens and twenties is scary to think about. I put myself in several situations that could have quickly been catastrophic, but the Lord protects the young and stupid I guess.

It gets worse when you have grandchildren. Successive generations think of WWII Europe and the south Pacific as a long-ago fairy tale. It wasn't, it wasn't that long ago, and can happen again...with nukes. Imbeciles making world power decisions. Faith and prayer is really all you have.

Getting in the water at the beach, ocean. Sharks, stingrays, jellyfish, man-of-wars. Did I say sharks? Lakes not much better. Terrified of cottonmouths and alligators attacking me in the water. What lurks in the water scares the crap out of me.

Back on topic. Lightning for this girl. When the hair on your head starts sizzling, you know it's close and it was. Thank goodness, the big guy upstairs decided to keep me around for awhile.

I certainly would. I might even break my number one rule and shake the basket for him.

The thing that probably scares me as much as anything is
people shooting and it comes my way even though they're
not deliberately shooting at me, but making a " sound shot "
or a " hail mary " shot or because they got excited and wasn't
thinking about their backstop or keeping their shots in a
safe direction. I've had bullets cut brush passing by me,
and/or that WHEEEEEEEEEE ! as a bullet passes by.
Probably as scary to me would be actually catching a bullet
and somebody leaving me to my own device or maybe
even finishing me off to keep themselves out of trouble.
I've heard of that happening, so it's possible
Too many people these days lacking any conscience and
will do anything to avoid jail

Heights...debilitating. Claustrophobia... terrifying.

State and downward slide of our once great American way... scary and heartbreaking.

Heights. I can't stand a position with no enclosure around me. The wide open spaces when I am not close to the ground is not for me.
When I am on my motorcycle, people using cell phones while they are driving are a constant concern or fear
.

Did public speaking for more than 23 years. IMO, it's something that you know from the very start if you will ever enjoy it or be good at it.

My greatest fear are the results of old age, such as not being able to make to the bathroom without help, loosing your teeth, and not being able to fully enjoy the outdoors. But then, a good friend once said "getting old is just a matter of inconvenience." Still, I have no intentions of ever living in a nursing home.

My wife and I went down to Corpus on a two day trip when we were younger. I was swimming one day and was diving down to the bottom looking for shells, ect. I guess I got a little too deep and could feel the cold undercurrent trying to pull me down with it. I had had a few beers and didn't realize what I might have gotten myself into. I had just enough energy to pull myself away and out of the undercurrent. Had I dove 6 ft farther out, it would have taken me down with it. You could feel the power of the water and how insignificant it made you feel. That scared the living bejesus out of me.

Spiders crawling on me.

Heights are now a concern. Never was too scared of them till I fell off a roof. I still climb on ladders get on the roof etc. I just make sure I have something to grab onto lol.
