Well he took a dirt nap this morning. Not sure how I was contemplating letting this buck walk. Looks to be a 5.5 based off the teeth. Need to score him still but he’s a biggun biggest buck of my life by far. Looks like someone else also thought the same and shot his brisket out with a 2” mechanical

At first I thought it could be a tpost or barbed wire rip, but it is a perfect 2 inch tear

Did it have an odor or look infected. I had a friend call me once about a hunter he had hitting a buck. He was shot with a rifle early one and hit the ground, only to struggle up on his feet and run off. They looked all day and never found him. Went to the same blind the next morning and the buck chased a doe into the feeder. Hunter shot and killed the buck this time. My friend told me the wound had a foul odor and looked greenish/yellow in 24 hrs.

Not much of an odor at all which I found bizzare but was hard to the touch. He did come in walking like something wasn’t right too.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!
