Grew up in a dry town and now live in a different dry town. Life isn’t fair.

I would be surprised if anyone has heard of this one. Been closed many years, and what type of bar it was. In Dallas.
Palms Danceland. Go. It’s been a long time since I heard that name and then I thought about the Debonair.

Good tunes although I only went there a few times. First bar I went to in the 70’s. Me and my buddy were under age, we had fake ids if we got carded. I go to the bar and order 2 beers, no issue. Take them to my buddy. We are standing up, leaning against the wall, feeling really cool, like we accomplished something, and trying to “fit in”, we are like 2 sips into our beer and my buddy drops his beer, shatters on the floor, it was like the music stopped, band and everyone looking at us…

I’ve never been to a bar and definitely don’t know the most famous one in any of the towns I’ve lived in. Mom, me, brother, and sister did use to drive around all the bars in town growing up looking for my dad so we could get some grocery money before he wasted it all on alcohol.

What have you got? In 1983 I was an extra in the film Tough Enough starring Dennis Quaid that was partially filmed at the White Elephant Saloon. Back then I did not think much of him as an actor but what the heck did I know? Small world Stub. I helped finance that movie. It had Dennis Quaid, Warren Oates and Wilfred Brimley in it also. Should have been a break out role for you and we could all say we knew you when. The scene that I was in Dennis was a on stage as a Country & Western singer and I believe there was fight going on, you might have seen me for a whopping 5 seconds whoo hoo.

Arkey Blues Silver Dollar. My Buddy "Kenny Hardin" Plays there with His band quite a bit. When I'm down that way meet there in the Morning for a morning beer with Him and His Buds. Heck, think I'll head down next week and see Him. I'm buying. Arkie is a good one for sure. Wild Horse out further ain't bad.

Surprised nobody mentioned Billy Bobs. I never cared much for the place but I had hundreds of people ask me for directions on how to get there.

It used to be the Hill Top Bar in Aransas Pass, Tx. Located at Conn Brown Harbor. Used to be lots of fights, stabbings, and the occasional shooting there when my hometown was the shrimping capital of Texas. I picked up a good but bloody hunting knife from the parking lot which I used for many years cleaning critters. Just pig's blood they said. Took the owner's daughter to my Sr Prom. Ended up leaving her there, her parents didn't like that very much...but there was a good reason for it.
I caught many a fish as a kid behind that old bar, then afterwards after it was leveled like many other places, and then later when I was told that I couldn't fish there anymore due to "Homeland Security"...but I did anyway.

I've been to a number of the ones mentioned here but I'll throw a few into the mix...
Ships, great little hole in the wall in East Dallas, a couple blocks from my house
Mitche's, also Eat Dallas, beer and set ups joint. They would normally open at 6:00AM, just down the street from my house.

The Esquire, downtown San Antonio. 'Longest bar in Texas. It was a dive bar when I was a kid and young adult, and plenty rough, but it's been regentrified. I would bet the Buckhorn Saloon is likely the most famous. Now if Randy's Rodeo, The Farmer's Daughter or The Golden Stallion were still open, it would be a different story.

What have you got? Shot a lot of pool there when I was in middle school. My nephew died when I was in seventh grade; he was 10 days old. My mom let me and my other sister skip school when we were having bad days...and she would take us to shoot pool. Joshua doesn't have a bar, but the closest thing would be Kathy's private club.
