Don't listen to the scared old men, I live and work in Deep Ellum, you are fine. There are clubs, fights/shootings happen in and around clubs. Stay out of trouble and you will be fine, no different then SA River Walk area.

Well I checked and we are south of Deep Ellum area, south of the Highway. I dont know of thats any better......

Provide us some context. Just staying and sleeping there one night? Or having a weekend of fun?
If worried you can always go to a local playground with your wife in your own hood and practice tactical maneuvers while covering each other. Be sure to film this and then post on here for review/advice.
Having traveled the world in a lot of actual dangerous places I can offer these recommendations:
1. Don’t get drunk
2. Don’t buy drugs
3. Don’t be stoopid
4. Maintain situational awareness
5. Trust your instincts
6. Be polite I don’t like to agree with him. But he’s correct. It’s your average down town crap hole. Rich kids hanging with the ghetto kids everyone drunk buying drugs chasing skanks.
