Diabetic but the worst was when I had 2 wisdom teeth removed. The next day infection set in and throat started to swell shut, could not drink anything except some juice. Painful and friends were calling the dentist trying to convince him how bad I was. Hours later he prescribed antibiotics. Saw the dentist following Monday and he said he would have sent me to the hospital had he known how bad i was. Not good when the throat swells.

Not sure if it is considered a disease, but the inguinal hernia I had a couple of years ago. I knew it was time for surgery when part of my small intestine would drop down into my nut sack. eek

Pretty sure that was worse than the hemorrhoids I had a few years before that.

Mine was years ago. No problems. No overnight at the hospital.

Hernia, or hemorrhoids?

It wasn’t a disease, but the wisdom tooth mention caused me to remember my wisdom tooth removal. Dentist gave me a deadening shot and I had a major reaction, as in being short term dead. There’s a term for the reaction, but I can’t remember it. I woke up and the dentist told me my heart had stopped and I had quit breathing, and I died. But “we got you back”. I was a teenager and a virgin. Just think about all the fun I’d have missed if I had stayed dead.

On the good side, dying didn’t hurt a bit. And, while dead, I did have a vision or whatever. I was going over a bridge, through a thick fog. No light at the other end though.

Barnyard infection on my arm after bull nearly ripped it off, March 2018.

Remained as 'open wound' in hospital 2 months.

This pic is actually my elbow, after 4 debridement surgeries, 5 different iv antibiotics for 6 weeks, and woundvac the whole time, and a month of healing,;
- it actually looks pretty good at this point as nothing new was growing in there anymore: wink

Don't look unless you can handle really graphic;

that's my 'funny bone' on bottom-middle, and you can see tendon (dark oval top middle).

About a month later swelling was down and had 5th surgery for skin graph/closeup.

hidradenitis suppurativa. Hands down no question about it absolutely sucks. Dealt with it for 20 years. I have had 5 surgeries to remove it with skin graphs as well. Absolutely terrible condition.

It’s a staph infection of the bones of the worst kind, it’s extremely rare and all caused by a dumb [censored] surgeon that didn’t catch it after I broke my ankle. My leg turned red and then black for almost 2 weeks before a second surgeon not only saved my leg but my life. I spent over a month in the hospital and another 13 months recovering at home. This happened in early 2018 and I’m still trying to recover to this day.

Sounds like a lawsuit to me. My orthopedic surgeon was in Italy when my foot blew up. First words out of his mouth when he got back was "it could not have been the surgery since it was months ago". My first thought was nice CYA.

Amoebic dysentery, got it when I was in the Philippines. It's suppose to clear up in 7 days in most cases. Me and my buddies, being jarheads, had to contract the kind that needed anti-parasitics to kill. Dropped 35 lbs in 3 weeks, through an exit strategy from HELL. Anyone ever had it will tell you, take a drink of water or bug juice, you have about 3 minutes to be sitting on the commode, it was coming whether you were or not. Lactated ringers 3 times a day to stay hydrated.
Never again did I eat fish and shrimp from the market.

This thread reminds me of how easy my life has been. And I'm not clicking on any links or pictures. My knee feels better already.
