OK, so this is likely a dumb question. Please be gentle.

My son and I got drawn for a Squirrel and Rabbit hunt at Trinity NWR. It's great for us, cause he loves hunting anything and I'm assuming it won't be too crowded. The hunt is for pretty much the entire month of October. My question is this, can I shoot any hogs I happen to see while out hunting? I saw a ton of them this past Sunday afternoon when I stopped by to check out the area (including 3 that were hit by cars and were lying on the side of hwy 105).

The permit is silent on hogs, and just says Squirrels and Rabbits. But I know that hogs are not a game animal and are generally not restricted. Hence my confusion. Any help here is greatly appreciated.

Typically, whatever game is listed on your permit is the only game allowed. Now hogs, since they are invasive and a nuisance, maybe that's different. Either way, you need to contact the refuge for a question like that.

What unit is this? Strange that they would have Archery and Squirrel hunters out there together.

If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready!

I've called and asked. Hogs are not legal on the squirrel hunts.

It's the Page unit. It's away from the other units, and kind of hard to find. I'm thinking the archery hunts are on a different unit?
