Just inherited a 4 digit civilian 1911 that was my great grandfathers. All original parts august 1912 build date. Rough estimate on condition is 85% or better. Will post pics tomorrow, I'm seeing values all over the place, and don't know where to start

He might want to know insurance value. I'd put it at $1500.00 in 85% condition.

If it’s a mix master, would prolly go 1,500 as previously mentioned. Price on pre-war 1911 and service pistols have really been tall for several years now.

Yes I would think if it’s a 1912 at 85%, 4-6K is a starting point. Depending on other factors it could go up from there. Lots of early 1911s were selling for 5 figures in the last Rock Island Premier Auction.

Look at Cabelas gun list, I saw several which might match up to yours. One was a Civilian gun (serial# starts with a "C") $3,000 but Cabela's rapes people on their used guns.

If that '60 A-5 didn't have a polychoke I'd make you a serious offer on it. Is that holster sea turtle or gator?

... but Cabela's rapes people on their used guns. Not always. I got a good deal on a Ruger SP101 and on a Remington 788. I paid less than market for both of those guns

Your great grandpa had seriously good taste! Nice family heritage to pass down one day. Those are all classics.

Man your Grandpa had serious taste and class! All I have from mine are a Winchester M190 .22 and an old Ithaca Model 37 16ga but they will always be in the family.
