i see people posting post where there amazed if they see a few deer at there lease, how many off yall hunt your land hard just hoping to see a deer, let alone shoot at one

When I was on a lease in east tx thats how it was, I would see all the hogs i wanted but the deer were pretty far and few between and the lease was 700 a year! It was in between cleveland and dayton tx

Dont have a lease but my property in east tx alot and see fewer deer every year thanks to the new regs and didnt take any last year wich was a first in the 23yrs i have owned it.

It's nothing to see 30-40 in the morning and that many again in the afternoon if I don't start running around doing a bunch of chores and clearing the fencelines. If I stay at the house, I'll see 10-15 usually.

I've been seeing a doe everyday lately at my house near Quinlan. She's been out in the middle of the day. I was talking on my cell phone a couple of evenings ago and she walked out with 50 yards of me. She acted like she didn't have a care in the world.

i have a uncle that invited me on a deer hunt one time in east texas, i sat in the stand 4 days and didnt see but 3 crows. i would never do that again, i would rather be fishing

I always hope to see deer. Where I hunt @ here in NE Texas its hit or miss. Sometimes I see 8-10 deer in a sitting and sometimes I will go 2 or 3 hunts with nothing. I usually never go more than 3 hunts without seeing a deer though. Harvesting a deer is just a plus for me. Im at the point now, that on my place I'm not gonna shoot anything borderline on the AR Regs, im lookin for something bigger and the more game cam pics I get of bigger deer, the longer I will wait out. We have seen lots of bucks on my place in the last 3 years, but we havent shot any bucks since 2006. Tryin to let em grow.

I usually see several deer most of the time. Just wait for the one I want and sometimes never see it but have a great time just watching

I expect to see deer when i'm hunting in the hill country, and am surprised if i only see 4 or 5 on a particular sit. When i hunt in south east oklahoma... i hope i see atleast one deer during the season.

When I hunted Montague County, I HOPED to see a deer.

Now I hunt San Saba County and usually see multiple deer almost every single hunt.

Yep, the deer are smaller, but I still like San Saba better.

(Haskell County) Only saw 6 deer the whole season last year, Yes I just hope to see some deer. We had no wheat due to the drought, so no reason for deer to be on our place. So many cows there was nothing for them to eat in the brush.

In Gillispie County, I could probably kill a deer with a baseball bat at my buddy's place. Be harder to swing and not hit one.

I hunt state land and don't see deer every time I go. With the new ARs I've seen more little bucks. Last year I went to Caddo lake and seen a bunch (10 deer total) of tiny deer opening week end and the following weekend. I got a spike and a doe. My son (age 27) went with me we seen 30 deer along side the road on the drive there a none in the woods. yes, I would say it is something special to see deer, and I feel lucky getting to see deer or hogs. The only animal I see every trip is squirrels and actually went once or twice without seeing one. I seen a bobcat once!

I used to hope to see deer when I hunted Montague. It would stink when you see 6 on the opener and then go weeks before seeing another. But I moved to a new lease and EXPECT to see deer there even though it is only 2 miles away. Much thicker and lots of water. The guys there always saw multiple deer every hunt.

Its a good day to see more than one deer from the stand on my lease in cass. A buddy of mine hunted a lot last year & only saw 5 deer all season. we get plenty of pictures on cam, but they will all go nocturnal as we get closer to season.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if they closed hunting in this area for a few years.

I generally see at least a couple of deer a day when hunting, but not always. On a good day I'll see maybe 6 deer.

Weve had a couple of bad years for some reason, last year I bet I saw less than 10 different does all season, and I'm there a lot.

i think everyone goes to the stand hoping to see deer. i know there are slow times at my lease where i might not see a deer in a weekend but to tell you the truth that isnt real often.(nac county)

I hunt Freestone county now. Used to hunt San Saba. Completely different scenarios. In San Saba, it was nothing to count 20+ in a hunt. The most I've seen in Freestone was 14 in one hunt, last year.

The family land I hunt in Freestone has a resident herd on it. I can usually always see 3+ deer a hunt. It's just usually the same deer every hunt. Mostly does and yearlings. The bucks are there, but very wary. I've been hunting one particular buck for two years now. Maybe this year?

I remember the days when we'd go all year and maybe see a deer, maybe not. Now we are regularly seeing animals. We just can't go Rambo on them due to the limited size of the herd we have.

I do see and kill plenty of pigs to keep it interesting though.

There are some areas where you wait to see deer and then there are some areas where you just wait to see the one you want to shoot. I hunt the first area.

I hunt tom green co. and when i hunt i hope to see less than 30 so i can get a clean shot.

Man It frusrates me to all get out when I here people bashing east texas about deer numbers. Its thick with cover, edible vegetation 10 months of the year and has a lot more precipitation (most years)than other parts of Texas. Yes the land is cheaper to hunt which brings in some who have hunted other parts of texas where you see 10-20 deer at the feeder everytime where prices have sky rocketed in the past decade. True in most places in East Texas you do not see the deer at the feeder as in other places. I love to see one deer come out and eat. If I don't I know I have to go into the woods to hunt them.
I for one don't like to drive a long distance for my groceries if I have all the food I need right around the block.
You have to actually hunt for deer in East Texas. I use feeders just like everyone elso mainly just for the rut and for family and friends who only come out to the country once or twice a year. They like to see deer/wildlife.

Man, sorry for the venting. I love Texas and all its regions but east texas does it for me. I like to look up to see a tree top. And I love the shade. I hunt in Brady Texas once a year with BIL and love it. Beautiful country. But when driving home, the first landmarks I look for are pine trees. Sorry Texaswhiteboy. I hope I didn't ruin your topic. This is just my opinion.

I can count on 1 hand how many times I've sat on a stand for a morning or evening hunt and not seen anything in the past 5 yrs. I usually have 1 of those hunts every year where weather doesn't cooperate and the animals have more sense than I do. I love hunting deep East Tx, depending on where I'm at in the area we can see between 2-30+ deer per sitting.
