I am looking for a cheap 28 gauge to have as a knock around hunting gun.

I have my eyes on either a Mossberg SA-28 or a Yildiz Over Under.

Help me decide which way to go. I have both semis and O/Us so I am not partial either way.

Both are good guns for the money. I’ve heard good things about the moss berg. For OU the Stoeger Condor felt better to me.

Never go Mossberg on anything. Everything Mossberg I’ve messed with was cheap junk, rifles and shotguns.

A quail hunting buddy of mine bought one of the Yildiz 28’s a few years back and it’s a nice little gun. The 28 damn sure didn’t improve his shooting any compared to his 20. I think for the money the Yildiz are hard to beat. If I can find one I’ll buy a youth 20 for my 10 year old for Christmas this year. His buddy has one and they both shoot it well.

I'd pay a couple of hundred bucks more and get a CZ Bobwhite 28. I love mine. If not then the Yildiz 28 over the Mossberg all day.

I know of 3 guys that turkey hunt with a mossberg SA 28 ga no issues. I bought a tristar G2 viper 28ga. I got mine for just squirrel hunting. I squirrel every weekend if weather is good. Tristar makes a over and under 28 ga 28 inch barrel 5 chokes. Alot of guys on shotgun forum shoots Tristar g2 vipers. Steven's make a 28 ga over and under. Mossberg and Tristar both has great custom service. I almost bought a browning bps 28ga. Guys told me i should look at the tristar g2 viper glad i did. Tristar makes a pump 28ga . That will be my next one. Only comes in a 28 inch barrel. I will have the barrel cut down to 22 or 24 inch. I shot half box of Winchester AA 7.5 and federal top gun 7.5. Both are high velocity ammo. After that i started using my reloads. It will cycle anything you put in it. I watch a guy on u tube he has a tristar G2 viper 28ga. He duck, dove, goose and turkey hunts with one. I seen him kill may of limits with it. And never had any issues. Tristar and mossberg are made in the same factory.

Mossbergs are like savages, dependable, good value and under appreciated.
