First, let me say that this section of the THF will be my new favorite site to check in on. I've already found some seriously valuable information, especially from this post https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/7701190/1 . Gives me some added confidence that I picked the right cartridge for me and the type of hunting I want to do. That being said, I am just starting in the world of pig shooting and owning a gun in this cartridge. I know most of you are shooting hand loads, which isn't something I plan on doing anytime soon. I need to know what off the shelf rounds should I be looking for as a good all around pig killing cartridge? I am well aware that .357 ammo is scarce right now so it will be a scavenger hunt. Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

As you saw from that linked thread I really like the 357 carbine for hunting when the range is not going to be very long. I wish Nosler had not quit making the 180gr Partition and Winchester loaded it a s factory rounds for several years. Those loads were what turned me on to that bullet for the 357 Mag and Max. The 357 in a rifle is about like the 357 Max in a handgun.
Quite a few do like the lighter bullets and they can work even the Hornady Leverevolution loads but do not expect an exit with the in my experience unless the pig is small or just lungs shot without hitting any shoulder.
Finding the ammo now without reloading or paying a high price might be tough. Ammo Seek does have some listed though.
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch

Thanks for the input. Truth is, I am looking to harvest the smaller ones for eating. After eating one last year, I am looking forward to bringing home the bacon. I'll probably feed it .38spl for plinking, and save the .357 for hunting exclusively. I just need a decent store bought load for hunting. Underwood 140 grain Xtreme Penetrators are very deadly from my Marlin 1894 in .357. They are a little pricy but will tear a hog up. I think they are in stock at the Underwood website.

I really like the Hornady XTP 158 gr bullets. I usually find them in the hide on the off side. I've shot a LOT of stuff with that load. Snakes, skunks, bobcats, deer, coyotes and pigs. Factory ammo tends to be a little watered down, so if you're buying hunting ammo, I'd buy from one of the custom loaders like Buffalo bore. They have jacketed bullets too.
