the bottom..a very hard to find wichester caliber 32-40 in a Savage short rifle, made in 1903, amazing condition 99.99% wood & metal, bore is like new the top is another 22hp (now have 4) it is threaded for a Maxim silencer, the only reason to buy, in 40yrs had never seen one, had read about. this is 1918 mfg thats 99.99%, now to find a machinist to figure out the threads and make an adapter
hold on Newt, we got a runaway

I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

Super nice, I'd just love to have a nice Savage 99 in my safe to have either a 250-3000 or a Savage .300. Pretty guns.

What’s the chances of finding the Maxim silencer for it...or having a “ look-a-like” made for it?

Very nice finds. Great rifles.

I am the proud of a 300 Savage, 250-3000 Savage, and a 22 High Power that has a very bad barrel. Have been looking for a barrel for the HP but no luck so far. Was on a deer lease where 3 of the men used 300 Savage rifles and my Dad used a 1903 Springfield that had been sportirized in Germany. The Savages all had 21/2 power Weaver scopes on them. My Dad’s 1903 had a Redfield 4 power scope on it.

I, too love the old Model 99's. Possibly the smoothest handling of all the old lever guns. Adios, Gary
