If anyone here builds them, please let me know.
Needs to function, not a wall piece.
Thanks.

I've always wanted one too. I kept a website for years on a guy up north, and he was very proud of them, but he closed. I know nothing about them, but would like something authentic to medieval, Scottish preferably. Hell, I'd even take a class on how to use it, if I can lift the dam thing.

I quit the book of faces a good while back, but there is a knife maker there who's handle is "Bull's Custom Knives". He used to be a power lifter, big ol' boy and seems like good people. I have bought several really nice knives from him. He also makes swords and he posted a video of him chopping up a pig with his first sword build. It was impressive. Maybe I should revisit FB and ask him to check this place out. His work is top notch, as well as keeping his word & has a beautiful family. Think he would fit in well here.

Have we found a swordsmith yet? We're binge watching Reign. (I know, I know - basically a medieval soap opera. It makes her happy. What can I say? Plenty of sex scenes, but not so much skin as to get this old man in trouble. ) I need a sword. I told her I'd wanted one for years. She said "That's just something else I'd have to get rid of when you're gone."

I would take a well made katana sword any day. Have always wanted to learn the art. Very few places actual teach sword fighting, its mostly sword movements.

Learning to sword fight would be cool, as long as it went better than when I tried to learn the art of fighting with nunchucks and smacked myself right in the juevos.

Don’t start swinging a sword around and cut off something that you might want to keep around...

I always think of Indiana Jones's swordfight
Back during the ninja craze ( 80's 90's ?) one of my friend's neighbors had got caught up in it, and got indignant with me over some trivial crap, and actually challenged me to meet him in the middle of the street with him with his ninja sword and blowgun and shurikens and me with my choice of firearms

If I were putting a quote on a sword, it would probably be "Death to all who oppose us!"

If I were putting a quote on a sword, it would probably be "Death to all who oppose us!" Here I was thinking how cool it would be to have a dueling sword inscribed with "Dum vivimus, vivamus! -- 'While we live, let us live!' " "...and [I] found there the blade that suited me the way Excalibur suited Arthur. I've never seen one quite like it, so I don't know what to call it. A saber, I suppose, as the blade was faintly curved and razor sharp on the edge and sharp rather far on the back. But it had a point as deadly as a rapier and the curve was not enough to keep it from being used for thrust and counter quite as well as chopping away meat-axe style. The guard was a bell curved back around the knuckles into a semi-basket but cut away enough to permit full moulinet from any guard. It balanced in the forte less than two inches from the guard, yet the blade was heavy enough to chop bone. It was the sort of sword that feels like an extension of your body. The grip was honest sharkskin, molded to my hand. There was a motto chased on to the blade but it was so buried in curlicues that I did not take time to study it out. This girl was mine, we fitted! I returned it and buckled belt and scabbard to my bare waist, wanting the touch of it and feeling like Captain John Carter, and the Gascon and his three friends all in one."
"I drew my sword and glanced along it, feeling its exquisite balance while noting again the faint ripples left by the feather-soft hammerblows of some master swordsmith. I tossed it and caught it by the forte. "Read the motto, Star." She traced it out. "Dum vivimus, vivamus! -- 'While we live, let us live!' " -- Glory Road, Robert Heinlein

You're tempting me, lol. I'm so far out on projects I can't think straight, but I've got 3 cavalry sabers on the list. I'd consider quoting a build, but a)it would be expensive and b) middle of next year at the earliest lol. That's why I sent you toward Breuer.

Be awesome if I can find the "round tuit" I've been looking for lol. Project is a trio of period-looking but not period correct swords "like" the Alamo "Line in the Sand" sword. Supposed to be done right after the first of the year... haven't started.

What type of sword are you wanting? Maybe that will entice one of us to be more interested.
