Today by my Dr.. My PT girl squealed on me about mowing the yard with sling still on. It will be six weeks tomorrow since I had my surgery and Dr. said I could get rid of the sling as long as I did not do stupid stuff like mowing the yard even when on a riding mower. Guess I need to learn to keep my mouth shut. Feels funny my arm just hanging there.

On the extreme I know a guy who had back surgery and went back to work too soon and didn't follow Dr. Advice. Long story short he's in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
How'd that work out?

Sounds like you need to man up & put the squaw in her place.

I wore that sling for 5 weeks and then just quit. Hated that thing. Did half the therapy when the danged pancreatitus hit me. Not sure if I should restart the therapy. Might not. Careful use of the arm and stretching is working well for me. At some point I will need to start strengthening the arm and shoulder.

I did shred pasture while wearing the sling, so slap my hand too.

For shoulder surgeries the therapy is almost as important as the surgery. You tear the repair by doing too much too early and the repair the second time is much more difficult. Dealing with ripped up tendons and ligaments, there is only so much good tissue to use. When you use it up, it is used up...but what do I know, I am just a podiatrist chiropractor

Odd combo. Or are you saying you are a chiropractor who only practices on podiatrist?

He's a Yankee and he owes me reparations.

When I had my shoulders done, the surgeons scared me enough I didn’t push it. No desire to be a one armed dude.

Note that I didn’t advocate not doing the therapy. Mine, unfortunately, got interrupted by my gut problems and then the surgery. In the meantime, I have continued to work on the shoulder per instructions. In a couple of weeks I’ll probably call the therapy place and set up a resumption. I do NOT want to redamage the shoulder and suffer the consequences. That would truly bring me to tears. I’m tired of being damaged and out of action. This isn’t fun.

I would make sure to start back with therapy as soon as you are able. Don't want that shoulder locking down and making that arm useless.

Mine did the same thing during our conversation. I will be doing all the positive things to get it back in shape an try to stay away from things that may be harmful. I won't get to hunt this year but it should be strong enough I can get in on the spring spawning season. 603 get back to the PT ASAP.

I had 4 bypass heart surgery July 13th 2020 and saw the surgeon 6 weeks later telling me what I could do and could not do. I ask if I could shoot a gun , his answer was NO NO NO. I started looking for semi reduced loads in a small cal. gun. A friend put me on to a load that was good enough to kill a deer but not going to have the recoil to do any damage. After I gathered up bullets & load data. I took my warden (Wife) with me to the range and let her be the judge since she is a hunter also after shooting about 6-8 of the loads, she handed the gun to me and said good to go. I killed my buck within an hour of opening morning. 12 weeks and 3 days after surgery. Never had the first sign of any ill effects. Daniel

I got the scare from the doc that did my right shoulder in the 90’s. He said if I followed his directions and therapy closely, I’d be back to 100%. I did follow instructions and therapy, played tennis with my left arm for about a year and then went back to the right arm. I don’t think my serve was as good after the surgery, but it was good enough. So, if you guys think I plan to avoid all the rehab, you are wrong. Even without the last phase of rehab, I have gotten the arm and shoulder to almost 100% flexibility, and it continues to improve every day. What I need in future rehab is strengthening of the various muscles.

Just had the gall bladder out after a couple of weeks of misery, and in 2 weeks I’ll get my post surgery review, after that I’ll call the chief torturer at the rehab center and see about the continuation. For now, I’m not to do anything that “jiggles my guts”, like the tractor, lawn mower, Honda Rancher, or Kubota RTV. I think I’m Ok with the truck, but the wife hid the keys. All that means that I can’t ride the Honda to check my feeders. Bummer.

Spacejunkie and 603 yall both hang in there. I have visited with yall both and yall are about the same age and both drive Toyotas- practically twins separated at birth.

If you get a vasectomy, do not head to a go go joint for a week. A friend told me this.

Hudbone, ya got me to laughing. It hurts, but a good laugh is worth a little pain.

I used to practically live in those go-go joints, mostly Rick’s. The company I worked for (oil trading) supported keeping the customers smiling. Haven’t been in one of those places in many years.

Had a Japanese guy that would come to Houston, and he always wanted me to take him to lunch at “Lick’s”. And I did.
