Our mid-coast birds held up pretty well considering a small hurricane just went through. 5-10 birds per shooter in the evenings last weekend. Nothing special but it,s something to do between teal hunts.

I havent bought a license yet this year or hunted, but we have a decent number of doves moving around the house, seems that there is a pretty good number of the eurasian doves around. Made a trip to the ranch this weekend and chased up several coveys of quail, bobs, they mostly looked young also.

We have been seeing quite a few mourning dove around the Pearsall area. I have 5 fields that I have not hunted yet this season as I had a wounded veteran dove hunt this past weekend and I wanted to keep it fresh for that event. Only a handful of vets went out, all the others wanted to stay at camp and talk to buddies they have not seen in a decade or so! The guys that actually hunted did a lot of shooting and got some birds but this area always seems to have a pretty decent population rain or shine. We only hunted one field (in Frio Town) for the entire weekend and it was producing well. The other places (Pearsall, Moore, and Bigfoot areas) looked pretty dang good when I was shredding them before the guys showed up.
