So I'm a dinosaur, I admit it I bought my first Tikka, Plastic, and Stainless rifle a few years ago in the new ( 10 yrs.at that time) Billy whizbang 6.5 creedmoor caliber. Then I found I wanted actual bottom metal and no mater what people said the new stock, let's just say was inferior. I replaced both and have shooting very good with factory ammo. so despite being on Medicare I can hunt in almost any environment without concern of rust or warpage. It has amazed me how I was able to survive hunt this long without ending up with rusty bowed rifles.
Enough humor, got that itch again, but this time I'm going back to what I like and that is the beauty of wood. Let me say this I have never and will probably never that a shot at a game animal over 250-300 yards. I can, but just don't see the need to short of a lucky trip to south or west Texas.
Why do I never see any threads here on the super grade Winchester? Forget the caliber, I here they are much improved from the post 64's. I love my remmy bdl's but that Winchester super grade is looking awfully nice right about now. I just was wondering if Winchester has issues I am not aware of.

Mine was a beautifully stocked Super Grade in 7mm Magnum. Gun was flawless but just didnt shoot good. It was factory ammo but grouped over 2" @ 100 yards

Thanks my choice would be the 26-06 which of course they don't offer anymore, may run across one used.

I don't have a supergrade, but I have a featherweight in .270 and one in .243. Both are tack drivers.

On a whim a few years ago, i picked up a new Super Grade in 7 Mauser. A buttery smooth action straight out of the box and a perfectly acceptable trigger (and I'm picky about my go-buttons). Slapped an old, trusted Leupold 6X on top and went hunting...

By all means, scratch that itch if it's bothering you...you can do a LOT worse.

The Winchester Super Grade is a beautiful rifle, I've always wanted one but talked myself out of it because of the price tag.

I won a Super Grade 280 rem a few years ago. Worked up a nice 162gr AMAX load for it. It shot very well. I found that it was way to nice for what I do with hunting rifles. I can’t just throw a rifle like that in the back of a Polaris or drag it thru the brush on a stalk. So I traded it off. Probably should have kept it but it was worth nothing sitting in the cabinet all the time.

Love my SAKO 85, beautiful wood and it shoots lights out. I bought it for a Nilgai hunt in December between knee replacements. I will probably sell it after if you can wait that long.

I'm going to use some detective work and say it's a 300 Win Mag.

Buzz,

Save me some Nilgai meat. I'll pay for it if you want.

food I shot a Oryx last December and my wife ate the whole thing. She loves the ground meat. She's already told me I need to go hunting ASAP. My plan is just to get a couple whitetails this year.
