From what I have heard it's a min. of 10 acres. Does anyone know for sure? Can you provide any links? Dose it matter (Acres) if you hunt with a Bow or with Rifle? I looked in TPWD but did not find anything http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/ Thanks

From what I have been told it varries from county to county. Call your local courthouse and ask them, thats what I did.

I think most counties require at least 10 to firearm hunt. It does vary from county to county though.

if you have 10 acres or more you can legally hunt and discharge a firearm regardless of county or city limits.

I could be wrong, but I don't see why a bowhunter living outside city limits couldn't legally harvest a deer in an area no bigger than their yard.
I've read of bowhunters being allowed to hunt residential areas of the northeast where deer populations have exploded as a result of the lack of hunting to reduce their numbers.

I've got a friend who's a LEO down around Austin...he got a call on a guy who shot a buck in a residential neighborhood (out of city limits) with his bow. He said the guy put a good shot on the deer but it ran straight into his neighbor's picture window. Shattered the window and bled out in her flower bed...perhaps that's the reason LOL.
