Idk but I’ve “heard”…

If there’s water, it’s worth the float

I’d love to float the GC

I’ve also heard during certain times it’s multi year wait

Buy the bus pass. Do some hiking. Really not much to do there.

What entrance are you going through? We drove in from Sedona

Drink plenty of water if you descend into the canyon. Please do your due diligence before hiking too far down. Be ready for any type of weather, it is still monsoon season.

We were there some months ago. We took a hummer tour and an airplane ride over the GC. The Hummer tour was better, since we had a great guide/driver. We stayed at the El Tovar, and it was awful. I’m sure it has some great rooms, but ours was probably the worst hotel room we’ve stayed in in 25 years. But, except for that hotel room, the trip was great. We were going to go to the North Rim also, but it was closed at that time.

We had our best meals in Tusayan.

Pretty amazing views at the rim.

Stay in Williams for a day or two. See the sights on old Route 66, check out all the animals in Bearizona park. Ride the Grand Canyon railway up to the South Rim, to see the desert and enjoy a nice train ride. Going back to Phoenix by way of Flagstaff, you can drop down to Sedona for a day. if you go off the rim the other way on 89, then Prescott is a nice day long walk around.

Good excuse to return.

My wife did the rim to rim in one day last year. Not many people can do that. Was 45 degrees at the top and 118 at the bottom.
Total Distance (?) 21 miles (33.8 km)
Hike Time 9-14 Hours (Total)
Difficulty (?) Very Hard
Total Ascent (?) 6,200 feet (1890m)
Highest Elevation 8,297 feet (2529m)

I can tell now we haven't allowed enough time. Really appreciate the replies and will cram in as much as we can.

We rode the train. Boring, not worth the cost.
Went it March and it snowed 6 inches or so. Great pictures like no one else has. But only two bus stops were open.

Back in the early 60's we took the mules in and out. Trails I probably wouldn't walk down them mules handled with no problem.

Go see Mesa Verde. It is four hours from the Grand Canyon and well worth the drive.
