well again we hit a home run, shot 3 tonight we have had a time trying to get on em but as of tonight these made 9 hogs in 7 days,we have tried a lot of things in the past 3 months, loged a lot of hours out and about been very close at times, the things that have worked in the past have not worked as of late, just because ya dont see a lot of sign around a pond dont mean there are not pigs around, dry conditions have made the ponds low and very bogy so in turn the places we hunt have not shown the signs, for some reason these hogs have not done a lot of rooting on the edge of the water like normal,we have been hunting over corn whith water close by 1 hour before dark till 10:00 then we move on to the next spot, alternate spots each night so that we are not in the same place every night at the same time, this has been key,we spend at least 2 hrs on each set,use your ears they make a lot of noise, use yor nose they smell, also hogs can be very light shy shine the area good but dont do to much,at night ya have to be very carefull no what is around you some ones life a cow or property is not worth 1 hog or 10,hope this helps some one put meat in the pot, feeds a yote or a buzzard, and also does a service for the great state of texas, and your local farmers,GOD BLESS AMERICA and my 22.250

I sick of gutting and skinning hogs at midnight but I'm ready to fire the old smoker up and cook a few( in this heat I dont think I would have to build a fire to cook em).

If you don't like to clean them at midnight, try trapping them. You can clean them after your morning coffee.

is it true that hogs have to go to water about every two hours in this type of heat?

im not shure,i would think that they find shaded water with a lot of cover and wallow during the day, hogs dont sweat so they have to stay cool,i also dont think they will drink from there wallow,so they water early and late....who do ya live 2 miles west of me or wild boar....i will get the pics on,fixn to go huntn so it will be later on.....

BIZ,
I sure envy you guys in Texas. I am just dying reading your posts about the number of hogs you are taking. I would love to live that close to a good hog "hunting" area. I have a Texas hog hunt scheduled for January 2007. Hope I have as good of luck as you have been having. I look forward to the great eating the hogs provide.
I do live VERY close to a hog area, but a corporate farm and they would frown VERY HEAVILY on me if I went hunting there!
