Hate to hear that. I've been through it too many times myself. Very sorry for your loss.

Thanks so much to all of you. It does help. The wife and I are still both "weepy" today. 'Stopped at the Junction processor today to take a picture of the new owner's after hour (off season) phone number, in case I decide to pop the pesky axis doe that hangs around the house. Checked my picture "gallery" to make sure I could read it, and there are the pictures from yesterday that my wife insisted I take. ( ), the last few minutes, before the vet came in, her head in my wife's lap. I'd completely forgotten them and wasn't expecting it. Dam, that hit me hard. 'World's got much bigger problems right now; just sux to have something so innocent, happy and loving taken from you so darn fast. Time to cowboy up.

Sorry to hear CR. It’s never easy to lose someone that’s a part of your life, two legged or 4 legged. We are poised for our bulldog to go sometime soon. I have already put two dogs down. No way am I going to let this one go with my 4 kids at home and not have “her shadow” lined up. So I went ahead and bought a 2nd dog last year to help with the transition………whenever that day comes. Hope you and the Mrs have comfort and peace for as long as you need it. Get out of the house, enjoy each other and look to brighter and new beginnings. Praying for you guys.

From your pics your young enough to enjoy another Lab. Time heals a lot of things give it sometime and your family will be ready. These dogs need people like us. My 4th Lab is 12, she may be it for us I turned 65 this year.

Sorry for your loss. Getting along with our dogs is a piece of cake compared to getting along with most people.

I’m now 2 dogs beyond my beloved black lab Misty Boston Night (akc registration). Misty was THE poster child for every great thing you hear about labs. Sniffing things out, retrieving, loved to help bring in grocery bags and a host of other amazing abilities that I doubt I will ever have in a 4 legged companion. She was so smart, I told everyone she was my daughter with excess body hair and a speech impediment.
All that to say, I truly feel the heartache you and your wife are experiencing right now. Misty succumbed to lymphoma shortly after her 11th birthday. I’m not ashamed to say that after we euthanized her, I walked outside the building and sobbed uncontrollably for several minutes.
I want you and your wife to take consolation in the fact that you gave her the utmost quality of life and in return, she gave you her unconditional love and loyalty until she took her last breath.
I will close with a famous quote. “We should all try to be the person our dog thinks we are.”
Sincere condolences,
Greg

I'm sorry for you loss I'm sure she brought you unimaginable joy throughout her life. Life is full of heartbreak, destruction and devastation but those that enrich are lives are never mistakes we wouldn't trade the joy we got from those we knew and loved even after they've left us behind. Never stop making new connections even those you know may end in heartbreak, the pain fades with time but the love will be part of you forever.

Condolences Creekrunner. Our four legged friends teach us a lot about unconditional loyalty and love and forgiveness. The last lesson they teach us is about the circle of life. I know it hurts right now. A puppy and time is the best therapy. The sorrow that comes at the end of the ride is worth the enrichment our four legged friends add to our lives. Hang in there.
