Full FDA approval of Pfizer vaccine opens door for vaccine mandates in Texas
Quote
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s full approval of the Pfizer vaccine Monday is cracking open the door for Texas cities, counties and school districts to compel their employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19 — moves previously blocked by Gov. Greg Abbott.

Abbott had banned public schools and local governments from enacting their own vaccine mandates. But the governor’s executive order specifies that the ban on mandates applies to COVID-19 vaccines that are under emergency authorization — a designation that no longer applies to the Pfizer two-dose vaccination.

No telling how this is going to turn out. Now that there is an FDA approval on one of the vaccines, unfortunately I think we’re really going to start seeing more businesses mandate it and use it as a condition of employment for their employees.

I will boycott any business that mandates it.

I think I'm in this camp too.

I feel fortunate not to work for company like these. Talk about creating a hostile work environment

I have a feeling the ambulance chasers in the next year are really going to do well with one offs.

I hope I don’t find myself having to make this decision.

That will be interesting. Suffered from or with the vaccine. Cause and effect. I'm guessing there will be some sort of studies or trends.

To be determined

I think they will go after employers. A vaccination mandate for from line medical is a little more defensible then Microsoft.

You loose the” cause” because vaccination doesn’t prevent spread from person to person. You can show mandating it causing a hostile work environment , it’s going to be interesting on non competes also.

Is there a HIPAA exclusion for this? How/why is one person's medical history someone else's business?

From what i understand, it's not fully approved. They just extended the use of the vax via the EUA...Emergency Use Authorization. I'm not sure what to believe.

Link? in my research, I have found that it is fully approved for age 16+, and is still EAU for age 12-15.

Unclebubba,

Not saying i believe it one way or the other., But you can go to the conservative treehouse, scroll down to the 8th headline/story. You can read it there, not a long read. I would link the story, but my kid is still in bed.

Sure enough. You work out there or just onsite?

It is fully approved for persons aged 16 years and older. The EAU was extended for those aged 12 to 15.

No. It only applies to release of information by providers. The only way a company could get in trouble is if they stole the information. The provider would also be in trouble for having an unsecured records system.

Unclebubba,

Try the below link, if you can't open it, let me know. It gets into the weeds a bit in talking about the vax being approved or not.

I have a feeling my liberal department will now try to enforce this. What sucks is I have just over 3 years before retirement and this may push me out early. This pisses me off to no end.

I haven't heard anything yet, but I've been wondering if my city will eventually tell us if we don't get jabbed we'll have to pay part of our health insurance premium. They already did that a while back with annual health screenings.
