This is one our target bucks this year! Hoping to get my Dad on him. Just thought he is a great example of an old deer and you can see the difference in body size compared to a 2 year old. He won’t score a ton but I love the frame and his curled back browtines. Hope y’all enjoy! ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2021/08/full-37896-307118-b2fb81b3_9a8c_4c5f_b70f_4a868c053e6d.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2021/08/full-37896-307119-a4863868_2814_4fd5_98c5_73260c74f70a.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2021/08/full-37896-307120-7070977d_c8a8_4e86_ba8c_7c0a2e606fc6.jpeg)

Define "old"? He is neat looking with the brows curving back. Good luck on getting your Dad on him this year.

Mature would be a better word 5 + I think STX is being polite in saying that isnt a mature deer most likely. His neck line stops well above the brisket, he still has longer lankier appearing legs, and while he has cool character those couple pics jist dont really show mature. Middle aged, yes. Mature, no. Pics are tough. Other pics could show something different.

Here’s another photo of his body. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2021/08/full-37896-307166-50afb0c9_cfa3_46e0_a631_ee80fa7780f9.jpeg)

I would say he is 3-4 and likely 4, but to me that is a solid middle aged buck. If you like him shoot him. Dont get caught up on age too much unless you hunt for a living….

Nope! North of Snyder in Scurry Co! I would say he is 3-4 and likely 4, but to me that is a solid middle aged buck. If you like him shoot him. Dont get caught up on age too much unless you hunt for a living…. I agree! I try and let them mature as much as possible. I’m not the most experienced white tail hunter and I’m not afraid to admit that! I’ll take any learning I can get but also we don’t stress to much over intensive management or let it get in the way of potential family memories.

I think that deer is tricky. I could make an argument for post mature. Would want to see more pics.

I agree that in at least one of the pictures he looks that way to me to but in the others he looks 4 to me. He has something different going on at the front of his brisket as well that can be seen in the two broadside pics. An old injury or something possibly.
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!
