Any recommendations for gunsmiths in DFW area that can work on Beretta A400 extrem plus? Having cycling problems and after researching the issue, it seems to be a common problem on the new guns. Don’t really want to go through the process of shipping it to Beretta or Cole’s in Maine. I believe it’s a piston ring issue.

Beretta has some of the best customer service out there in my experience.

Coles will do it right and they’ll do it right the first time

Is it a new gun? Often, cycling problems with new ones can be solved simply by running a box or two of heavy loads through it.

Take it to the Beretta Gallery in Dallas. They are the authorized Service Center. Scott Mays is your man...

Clean it really well before you shoot. They have a lot of oil and grease from manufacturing and shipping.

The gun is pretty much new, got it for Christmas and only hunted once with it and a few rounds at the range. Unfortunately, my wife bought it in August on sale and by the time I opened it up and read the warranty info, if not sent in within 30 days of purchase, no warranty. After much research and cleaning, I bought a new piston snap ring and had Texas Gun Experience replace it. Took it out this weekend and it shot well with only a few short cycles out of a box. Will shoot again this weekend with heavy loads and see if she is fixed. If not, off to Beretta.

I am not a fan on the A400 piston design...
the piston ring is fragile enough to become bent and then cycling problems are the norm...
I much prefer the A390/A391 piston design...that thing was bombproof (and no piston ring either)...
don't know why beretta must fix something when it is not broken...!
