i shot a 20 gauge exclusively for years.

I now shoot a Citori 12 for dove on occasion because I was gifted the gun and want to honor the gentleman who gave it to me, and i can just flat out shoot it....but thats the only two reasons.

IME the 20 gauge gives up nothing to a 12 gauge for animals smaller than geese. I've pounded ducks, dove, quail, pheasant and chukar with a 20. I shoot a Weatherby Athena and its lights out for whatever I point it at.

I have had very limited experience with a 28 gauge but would not be opposed to acquiring one as an upland rig.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Been shooting almost exclusively a .410 or 28ga for several years now unless it's really high winds or the birds ar stale. In fact, I just bought 100kg of TSS that should last me several years for 28ga and .410 duck loads! up

Shot FITASC last weekend with a 12ga. To hell with that kicking son of a gun!

I have always favored a 12 myself maybe for simplicity as you say, but a buddy of mine had a pretty nice browning O/U 20ga that was really enjoyable to shoot. my wife has a light pump 20ga that i find i shoot a lot, and now my kids have a pretty neat pump 410 that i find i really enjoy as well. i understand where you're coming from.

For those of you shooting 20 ga., any specific brand of shells? I'll be taking my 20 ga. out for dove for the first time this season.

Depends, I don't know of any but there might be some places that require non tox if not 7/8 oz #7.5 or 8 shot. If non tox and your going steel I would go with 15/16 oz #6 steel.

Honestly, with shotgun shells being in short supply on retailers shelves, it will be tough to get some stuff...may be best to stock up on the 4-box promo packs of winchester or federal shells in 7.5 or 8 shot.

But, if you can find them, Winchester AA Light Target loads in 8 shot are my go to shell. High quality hull, primer, powder, and wad ensure good performance...oh, and the shot is high antimony, so it holds its "roundness" better for consistent patterns.

20GA beretta gas gun, side by side and OU in arsenal for ducks. Most are shot at 20 yards or less decoying birds- heavy shot #6s will be ammo of choice. Like shooting lead.

12Ga on cloudy days

No need to shoot 12ga on dove. Just tighten up if necessary if passing shots. 1 ounce Rios 7.5 gets it done. Never shoot heavy loads in 12ga either.

Browning Citori in 28 or Browning Citori in .410 if I'm feeling sporty.
