My go to fire starter is an air/acetylene torch. Well, yesterday , both my small tanks were empty. So I tried this 91% alcohol I buy at Sam's. Set the stick burner up as usual, soaked a handful ot TP with about an ounce of this stuff. Don't know what the BTU content is, but burns seriously HOT.
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

I use no accelerants on a cooking fire.
But if ya gotta, that's a good choice. Burns clean, burns off.

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

On my offset smoker i'll get it started with a small hand held propane torch then hit it with the cordless leaf blower.

On my offset smoker i'll get it started with a small hand held propane torch then hit it with the cordless leaf blower. My wife bought the kids some inflatable super ball last summer and it came with a handheld battery powered squirrel cage blower. I use that thing all the time on my coals when the wind isn't cooperating.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Use a heat gun or a looft lighter -- no accelerants to ruin your food's / pit's taste.

Usually use news paper and nothing else. Not opposed to gasoline but I let it burn for quite a bit if i use it before cooking.

One of those electric starter things for $20. Only as dirty as the fuel you burn.
