Axis. Spot pattern is wrong for a whitetail.

Looks like a whitetail to me. IME on Axis normally the two parallel lines of spots in the middle of the back will be closer together. Generally whitetail fawns the two lines of spots will be a bit farther apart. I saw a whitetail fawn the other that was marked liked the one your pic...the spot pattern was very unique.
Here are two whitetail fawns that show a similar pattern. Spot patterns on fawns are random and can carrying varying numbers of spots. Numbers around 300 give or take about 30. The pattern to each fawn will be unique. The size of the spots will vary as much as the pattern and numbers of spots can.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Looks like a whitetail to me. I took this pic a couple of months ago just after this whitetail buck hit the ground on my ranch.

I usually default to Stxranchman answer if anything seems debatable

I see whitetail fawns that look like that.

Whitetail, if you zoom in you'll see the tarsal glands hair on the inside of the mid back legs. Axis do not have those glands.

That sounds like someone who would really know for sure.
