Was working a gig for google today. Had no idea what it was. Apparently there are self driving 18 wheelers. And I saw it in action today.
There are like 50 of these autonomous trucks.
Fascinating. They will be hitting i45 from Houston to Dallas. Currently a driver is still in the truck. But they say they can drive it from San Francisco.

Something tells me this is a really bad idea. Yeah, I would have to agree with that.

When this goes mainstream, it will have tremendous impact on everything. Yeah there will be glitches and people killed, but crashes and deaths will go way down, insurance with it, less traffic, get to your location faster, less stress/road rage...

Hope they do a better job of staying the [censored] outta the left lane if they can’t run but 65-68 mph.
I don’t know what happened to the truck drivers this day and age but the days of courtesies from truck drivers are over. Damn sure wasn’t that way when I left trucking.

Do you suppose they can read and heed those "No Trucks Left Lane" signs?

Fine, let’s stop hearing about high prices/supply chain shortages due to lack of trucking since we will have a fix to that problem.

The tech guy was so excited explaining the process of he could run it remotely. I asked him. How does it get gas?
They don’t have that covered yet.
They say deaths would drop drastically.

Their making 18 wheelers drive themselves but they can’t come up with a better tagging system for Texas Lots of jobs will be lost in the near future from robotics/automation and the population is increasing daily so I guess the masses will be dependent on the government one way or another. I just hope I’m dead before they automate heavy equipment much faster than they already have. I got a book in the mail a couple weeks ago trying to sell remote control software so you can drive equipment off site. I’m to old for this crap.

I am skeptical about 39 to 40 tons running down the highway at 70 mph without a human on board to step in if things break bad We shall see.
