Lum's in Junction never closed during all of this, but has gone back and forth between just a take-out window, just take-out from inside, limited inside seating, back to just take-out, and now is back to inside seating. 'Food is excellent, as always.

And, I know the dad and two sons can't work all day, every day, and I'm sure they deserve a huge break, but they've hired some kids. An older lady is there that's always been there, and I assume she's the supervisor, but the two boys (17, 18?) working the counter are a couple of self-absorbed dweebs. 'Refuse to acknowledge you're standing there and were deeply engaged in discussing, I think, a video game. bang The lady finally said "Hello sir, how can we help you?" and I told them what I wanted. She stepped away and then the kid making the sandwich stops, does this dumb-arse sarcastic face and puts his hands out because she walked away instead of helping. I would have fired his spoiled little butt right there. I wanted to come across the counter and, as my mother was fond of saying, "pinch his head off!" There was another young kid working the pits; 'didn't look too thrilled, but he was working hard.

Maybe it's a later shift, temporary help, etc., but I worry about any restaurant that starts letting a bunch of teenagers run a place. As long as the lady is there and rules with an iron fist, maybe, but kids have spelled the doom of many a great restaurant.

So it just wasn't me when we went there not long ago. Sounds like the same group we dealt with. Liked it better when the original guy was there all the time. Always been a Lums fan but the last time it seemed the three working there thought they were doing us a favor by allowing us to eat there. Oh well.

Good help is hard to find these days, especially good YOUNG help. Not many kids with a work ethic these days.

Man I'm sad to hear that and hope they can get their issues sorted out. I would hate to see Lum's go....many of good memories there.

Stopped in the 4th of Oct., on the way back from the coast. The wife is not a tolerate person to non listening clerks, She worked in the travel business and condos. When she got the requestor she told the young man she is paying for next three in line. He stated the price of her meal and she repeated that the next three where on her ticket. She then step back to let the grand kids move forward as I brought the rear. The young man then ask the wife to pay for her meal. She repeated that she was waiting for the next three meals and he ask her to pay again. She walked over and showed him that there was three more meals on the ticket by touching the grand kids and me. The food was good and there was no issue other than a young man mind lost in the ozone.

I passed thru Junction on my way to Ozona to fill feeders a few weeks back. I stopped at Cooper's on the way out and Lums on the way back. picked up the same thing at both places as a comparison. 1 lb moist brisket and 1 lb of link sausage.

The flavor at Cooper's was good but it was definitely an off day for their brisket, flavor was there but the meat was rubbery and tough, to me they didn't get the temperature up high enough for proper breakdown. From my perspective, they are hit or miss with brisket, good 2 out of 3 times.

I was actually impressed with Lums this time as the brisket was tender, moist and great flavor. Again, I have been there a number of times and it has been hit or miss similar to Cooper's, good 2 out of 3 times.

even on the not so good days, the brisket was no where near the worst I have ever had. I'll continue to swing by both when traveling out that way. I usually stop at Inman's Country Kitchen in Llano but they weren't open on either travel day this last trip. Inman's is one of my favorites anytime I am passing thru there IF they are open.
